We’re now more than half way through X Factor and it’s safe to say that Cheryl Cole has officially adopted the sequinned dress trend.
On Saturday 14 November, Cheryl Cole wore an Alexander Wang Draped Sequin Mini Dress (£710, approx €798, Browns Fashion, pictured right) and looked stunning in midnight blue. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for her pulled back high ponytail hairstyle.
Alexander Wang (no relation to Vera), is THE designer success story of 2009. Since he launched his first women’s wear collection in 2007, I now look forward to his show every year at New York fashion Week (who am I kidding?.. well, the re-runs of the show on Style.com, I’ve never been invited to the live show!). Renowned for his edgy, sometimes masculine style, I was surprised at this dress being so girly and Cheryl Cole suited. More on Mr. Wang later this month…
Cheryl was her ever adventurous self on Sunday night, 15 November, supporting young British designers again during the X Factor by wearing a Richard Nicholl, white and gold corset dress. If this is on your Must Have list, Net-a-porter will sort you out at a whopping €1500. Otherwise, see Asos for a similar, non designer style (Forever Unique Gold Contrast Detail Strapless Dress ,€86).
Stacey Solomen X Factor 14 November
On to the contestants. Alas, with only one female contestant left in the competition, Stacey was styled in a caramel coloured ball gown on Saturday. The dress, a custom design by Suzanne Neville, wouldn’t be the best outfit to date that I’ve seen on the lovely Miss Solomen, but I did love the concept that she wore €100,000 worth of borrowed bling! You can do the same from a nifty site called rentyourrocks.com – it says what it does on the tin.
You Are Not Alone Song
However, on Sunday 15 November, I did think that Solomen was a vision of white in a French Connection dress, which I haven’t seen in the shops yet.
For the same performance on Sunday, it was great to see Lucie Jones back performing in a Kate Moss for Topshop white dress.
X Factor Male contestants 15 November
The male contestants were predominantly designer clad on Saturday night, with Jamie Afro wearing a smart Lanvin blazer, Danyl Johnson in a Balenciaga shirt to Olly Murs wearing Gucci trousers! I’m so sad to see Jamie go, he is such a likeable fellow!
