A bucle biker or tweed biker jacket has been on my shopping wishlist for some time now. Isabel Marant transformed the Chanel boucle jacket look a few seasons back making it more “biker” than boxy and there have been styles cropping up ever since with zips, leather trim and a metallic thread throughout the tweed.
I saved this picture of Rebecca Minkhoff AW11 last year (pictured above left) and have been on the look out for a similar style ever since. Why? As someone with slight shoulders, I need a strong shouldered jacket to balance out my shape and this jacket is just perfect for doing that and “dressing up” a t-shirt and jeans in one swoop. Plus I love red and black worn togther.
This weekend I finally found what I was looking for with this red boucle biker jacket with (p)leather trim at Warehouse (€84). The red, black and burgundy tweed has a sparkle through it and has leather finish on the collar, cuffs and at the back is right up my street. The length is just to my hip (and I am short) but if you fancy a longer length jacket I’ve seen a gorgeous red tweed blazer with leather cuffs in Zara.
I’m planning on wearing it somewhat like the Rebecca Minkhoff jacket pictured above left:
As a weekend look, I’ll wear the red jacket with jeans, a long black t-shirt and wedge trainers or swap out the trainers for a pair of biker boots. The biker boots pictured are Nine West at Arnotts €115 and the jacket is €84 at Warehouse.
For a dressier look, I’ll wear with my Pied a Terre pointed black pumps from Arnotts and wet look jeans €55 at Asos.com
