Top 5: White Shoes

Previously the premise of girlbands with enchantingly coordinated looks and the Queen of Pop herself, the white shoe has come a long way since Madonna rocked it in the mid-eighties.

As is always the case with the most fashion-forward of trends, the white stiletto has been resurrected by fashion editors and fashion bloggers alike, seen at Fashion Week recently. Indeed, editor of British Vogue and the very embodiment of good taste, Alexandra Shulman, declared herself a white shoe enthusiast via Twitter when posting about her latest purchase from Manolo Blahnik.

The pointed court has been massively on-trend for some time now, surpassing the platform heel as the go-to shoe for any occasion. For Spring Summer, the pointed court has come that one step further and embraced the colour of the season – white. The high street has embraced white shoes with fervour. Depending on how you decide to style yours, the high street is your best bet for sourcing the most practical and fashion-forward pair.

Walking the red carpet at this year’s Vanity Fair Oscars Party, Diane Kruger funked up her Giambattista Valli tulip dress with her white Louboutins, while Kate Bosworth looked demure in Preen SS13 and Louboutin Pigalles. Never one to shy away from a trend, Rihanna worked the masculine look with boyfriend jeans and an oversized jumper.

For those not so keen on the pointed court, there are a variety of options, with Karen Millen and Kurt Geiger embracing the more feminine round-toe and ankle strap option.

Most importantly, in order for this look to work in the here and now for us mere mortals, the white stiletto is to be styled in accordance with SS13’s most sophisticated trends. Minimal designs with clean lines as seen on the runway at Celine and Stella Mccartney, which are replicated to perfection in Zara at the minute.

If looking to work up to white-on-white, try a white mani-pedi, as seen on the SS13 catwalks at Chanel (above) with NYC Color’s white polish, €1.99.

Will you be embracing the White Shoe this SS13?
