The Royal Wedding

The fashion reporters got it right then, that Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen dressed Kate Middleton, in a gown created to “marry traditional fabrics and lacework, with a modern structure and design” according to Burton.

We watched the wedding in a Royal Wedding party we threw at Boodles (more on that later) and  thought the dress was beautiful from the waist up, very fitting, safe and demure (Kate was never going to go for something rique was she?) .

We agreed that Pippa outshone her sister in the dress stakes, in a simple gown also designed by Sarah Burton.

Pippa Middleton trended on Twitter yesterday with one tweet declaring @jonmaldon: The Middleton mother must be so proud: Kate becomes Princess Catherine and Pippa’s bottom trends on twitter!

Kate was a brave soul to let her sister wear white but the simplicity of keeping everything white, was very classy, with Jo Malone fragrances scenting the church.

We agreed that the bride looked like Grace Kelly on her wedding day, wondered why she insisted on doing your own makeup (she did look a little tired) and discussed what she should pack for honeymoon.

There was no sign of Amy Huberman in THAT Louise Kennedy dress, though one TV producer did get a picture of her arriving at Westminster Abbey on Twitter. (Via @debbieodonnell).

Victoria Beckham looked stern in a Philip Treacy hat (who made hats for 34 others at the wedding), Louboutin shoes and a navy dress from her AW11 collection. Samantha Cameron was refreshing in Burberry, though we think she was missing a hat and Princess Letizia of Spain wore a dusty pink dress by Felipe Varela, which was quite a dull choice for someone we normally regard as being quite stylish.

Also pictured above is Princess Marie Chantal of Greece, whose Royal wedding outfit was grey and “safe”, staying within the etiquette for the occasion (to the knee hem if it’s a morning Royal wedding) . We much preferred her nude gown for the pre-wedding dinner the night before.
