The Rise of The Rail Sale

We all have amazing pieces in our wardrobes we  bought for an occasion, worn only once or never worn at all. With the downturn, has come a surge of consignment shops and swap shops (see our list here) and also in pop up rail sale events; which are like designer consignment shops but instead are events that take place over a few hours.

You can sell your clothes by renting a rail for between €20-€40 and for shoppers, entrance to the events ranges from free to €3. Even though some organisers pre vet what you’re selling, they’re a great way to de-clutter your life and recoup some of your hard earned money.

The top three rail sale events on our radar are:

Fashionista Events

This Pre-loved Designer Clothing Sale takes place every month in Fallon and Byrne, Dublin. All major fashion designers (for example: Paul Costello, DKNY, Gucci, Prada, Calvin Klein, Chloe, Orla Kiely, Furla, Ralph Lauren, Louise Kennedy, Guess, D&G, Jesiré, etc) and high-end retail outlet brands (Karen Millen, Coast, Monsoon, LK Bennett, Whistles, Fran & Jane, Ted Baker, Reiss, Zara, Mango, Massimo Dutti, Hobbs, etc) are accepted. VIP sellers include stylist Cathy O’Connor and TV3 Xpose presenter, Lisa Cannon. A seller’s rail costs €30 and entry free for shoppers is €3.

Rails are booked up well in advance so if you’re thinking of selling, contact Fashionista Events to book your space.  We’re excited to be taking part in the next event on April 21st – will post our wares to Facebook this week!

See fashionistaeventsireland.com and Fashionista Events Facebook page for more info.
