Beauty: All That Glitters

I don’t mean to scare you but Christmas is only eight weeks away.

That means that there are glad rags for Christmas parties and get togethers to think of and a license for all things sparkly when it comes to makeup.

This is where The Body Shop’s new winter makeup trend comes into play. I went along to the launch and was shown first hand how to use the range by Karim Sattar, The Body Shop’s international makeup artist.

Sparkler in Boudoir Pink €19.95

First up, the most fabulous retro looking piece for your dressing table. The limited edition Sparkler is a gorgeous boudoir-style bottle full of iridescent sparkle-dust. Its elegant atomizer ingeniously delivers an even veil of sparkle to the skin, whilst the clever combination of different sized pearls and glitters creates a shimmer. “The Sparkler is an absolute make-up must-have to get the party started! Lightly spray over the face, décolletage, shoulders and neck for a flirty, sensual shimmer effect.”

Top tip: For an ultra-precise application, lightly spray the Sparkler onto a powder puff, then press along the cheekbones to highlight.

Eye Palette 22.50

Two new eye palettes contain four eye colours plus a shimmering highlighter where each eye colour contains skin-caring Community Fair Trade marula oil from Namibia, which helps to condition the skin over time.

02 Midnight (pictured) comes in Silver, Bronze, Black and Pink  and also features highlighter in Lunar and palette 01 Twilight contains shades of Violet Sky, Lilac Mist, Pink Champagne and Damson Velvet and a Pearl highlighter.

Top tip: Smooth and blend the lunar highlighter along the brow bone, under the arch of the brow and onto the inner corners of the eyes to widen and brighten the sensual winter smoky eye.

Stardust Glitter pots €12

These fabulous and cute party pots come in pink or gold. Use to shape, shade and highlight the eyes or, if you dare, anywhere else on the body….

Top Tip: Just press over the eyelids to turn tired day make-up into a fabulous glamorous night look, instantly.

Lip Gloss 14.50

Complete your looks with lip gloss: 01 Natural, for a subtle shine; and 19 Pink Sparkle, a limited edition pretty pink with an iridescent shimmer.

Top Tip: Smooth Love Gloss over a bare lip for a sheer barely they’re wash of colour, or layer over your lipstick for fabulous party lip looks.

Eye Liner €14.55

The original black liquid eyeliner from The Body Shop was one of my first ever makeup purchases and winter’s smoky eyes would not be complete without a bold slick of liquid eye-liner. Re-create the classic retro winged eye using the black shade, or add a twist to both your day and night look by sweeping the shimmering silver liner across lids to add contrast and drama.

The Body Shop Nail Polish 8.50

A first for The Body Shop, these nail polishes come in black nail polish flecked with starry silver. Or for a more feminine sparkle or choose the new pink and pearly shade.

Top Tip: Add drama by customizing your nail colour. Whilst the varnish is still wet, sprinkle little Stardust onto nails and allow to dry for a sparkling Christmas manicure!

And all that even before the Christmas lights have been turned on!
