Maria Sharapova’s style
Russian tennis ace Maria Sharapova took to the courts at Wimbledon last week and although she has not reached the final 8 in Wimbledon this year, we always love to see what Maria is wearing.
Wimbledon 2009 saw her sporting a white dress and she told Grazia magazine why she thinks fashion is an important part of tennis. “‘I don’t think being an athlete affects my personal style, but being interested in fashion can make me a better tennis player. When I feel good on the court, it improves my game.”
In 2008 she won the Australian Open and later that year she wore a tuxedo style outfit (pictured) to Wimbledon. Rather than go with the rest and wear a tennis skirt, Sharapova teamed her tuxedo top with high waisted shorts.
Maria has joined forces with Nike to design her own collection which will be unveiled soon.
Maria Sharapova’s off court style
Whilst she is off court, Maria is a fan of trousers by American fashion designer Rick Owens.
Sharapova appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman in the US last year where we love the outfit the tennis star wore. Her black skirt and cream coloured blouse are both from BCBG Max Azria, one of our favourite places to shop in New York – catch up on the Style City New York article now if you missed it.
