Taste of Dublin

Last week I popped along to Taste of Dublin in the Iveagh Gardens. Now in its tenth year,  I got to enjoy some great food;  favourites were the Lambay Island Lamb from Brioche in Ranelagh and the steak, chips and béarnaise sauce by Pichet.

Given the grass and gravel setting, I wanted to be comfortable so I wore a leopard print dress from Onjenu London (read about them here) and my Mary Portas for Clarks beige ankle boots.

On Thursday I witnessed some great small food businesses pitch their business idea at the Bank of Ireland sponsored Enterprise Afternoon.   The Little Milk Company won the competition where the prize was a stand at next year’s Taste of Dublin.

Image Magazine and Powerscourt Hotel hosted a Style Afternoon and were scouting for ‘Best Dressed’ and ‘Most Edgy’ which was won by Aine Horgan, who wore a tribal jacket and white shorts- she was spotted at Taste pushing a baby buggy.

On Friday, I popped along again with my sister and managed to bag a coveted seat at Aldi’s ‘Prime by Aldi’ pop-up restaurant where diners ate for free. The restaurant was designed by Peter Kelly (aka Franc, the infamous wedding planner) and I enjoyed a fabulous Irish Angus Fillet Steak (all of Aldi’s meat is 100% Irish) and glass of wine while my sister had the of Free Range Irish Chicken and a wine, of course.

It was definitely a highlight of Taste of Dublin for me and we weren’t the only ones to frequent the joint; guests over the weekend included Brian O’Driscoll, Amy Huberman, Gordon Darcy, Aoife Cogan, Joe Duffy, Lucy Kennedy, Mairead Farrell (reunited with her Wedding Planner Peter Kelly), Comedian Al Porter, Sean Munsanje, Masterchef star Monica Galetti, Chapter One’s Ross Lewis and chef Michel Roux Jr.

Check out some social snaps from Aldi’s ‘Prime by Aldi’  below.
