New from The Body Shop for spring 2011 comes ‘Brush with Fashion’, a new cruelty-free, fashion-forward make-up and accessories collection created from a collaboration with London College of Fashion.

London College of Fashion is the only UK college specialising in fashion education, research and consultancy. Its esteemed alumni includes William Tempest, Jimmy Choo, Patrick Cox, Emma Hope and Linda Bennett (aka LK Bennett) and it teamed up with The Body Shop to run a competition to create the artwork for the makeup collection.

The winning design was created by Katarina Voloder, a German 21 year-old BA (Hons) fashion illustration undergraduate. Her amazing design is built around a make-up sketch of an eye, lips and make-up brush, giving the packaging a strong fashion-forward feel. This is combined with a starburst fan effect with splashes of colour to convey the chic shades of the new collection.

Available from early February 2011, ‘Brush With Fashion’ is the ultimate portable, ultra-stylish make-up in Spring’s irresistible colour palette. The must-have collection combines The Body Shop make-up know-how with London College of Fashion’s cutting-edge fashion and design expertise.

Cheryl Cole Saturday Week 4

By the looks of things, Cheryl Cole is getting first dibs on the Spring Summer 2011 looks for the X Factor live shows.

On Saturday night she appeared on stage wearing a Jonathan Saunders Spring 2011 dress which included a mesh yoke and waxy trim on the hem of her flared skirt, worn with Jimmy Choo metallic sandals.

Cheryl Cole Sunday X Factor

On Sunday Cheryl Cole changed from her to-date black X Factor uniform by wearing an Ina Soltani Autumn Winter 2010 two tone dress. Her deal with di Grisogono jewels must be a good one as she wore them for the third week in a row.

The purple and hot pink mini dress with a pleated dramatic bodice and black velvet belt was paired with purple suede Christian Louboutin shoes.

Dannii Minogue X Factor Saturday

Dannii Minogue made quite an entrance on the X Factor stage loon Sunday wearing a Marchesa autumn 2010 with red Giuseppe Zanotti peep toe shoes and Annoushka jewels.

If I were totally honest, the red dress did nothing for her and her makeup wasn’t as perfect as it usually is. Her Jedward quiff was back, which you may remember she wore varying takes on last year.

Dannii Minogue Sunday X Factor

Dannii’s dress is the Tinsel asymmetric dress from her very own Project D collection It has not yet hit the Dublin store but is Available online at Harvey Nichols – (£355, add £5.50 for delivery to Ireland so in total €416). There’s also a beautiful floor length version of the dress (£490).

I like the sparkle and long sleeve detail but do think that it looks too big for her – it just doesn’t have the wow factor that the couture J’aton Couture gowns she’s worn in the past do.

You might remember Danni’s dress from X factor week 1, when she also wore a Project D style that time a prom dress. The bodice top hugged Dannii in the right place while this week, the dress was too straight up and down for her.

Her hair made up for it though – the sleek straight bob won me over totally.

So what did you think? Is the style getting better or worse?

If there was a People of of the Year award on WhatSheWears.ie, Tess Daly would get it.

Sticking by her husband’s side despite infidelity rumours (this has been dubbed the Year of the LoveRat after all), Tess marches onward on camera, ever radiant and professional as co-host of TV series Strictly Come Dancing.

And then there’s her style. Week after week, the fabulous frocks continue – but it’s not just her on screen style that we like (remember when she appeared on our very own The Late Late Show back in April?).

Her red carpet style mixes designer with high street, where Daly can work any hem length and still look good. Let’s see how you can steal her style.

Tess Daly at the National Lottery Awards

Most recently, we witnessed Tess on the red carpet at to the National Lottery Awards in the UK . Tess wore this cream studded dress from French Connection (€245 – it also comes in navy).

With such studded detailing, there’s no need for necklaces or earrings – keep it simple with a metallic clutch and a statement cuff on your wrist.

You could even work this dress in colder weather, pairing it with black opaque tights and adding some edge with a black leather jacket, or black blazer.

Tess Daly at the Launch of Strictly Season 8

Where would our winter TV schedule be without Strictly Come Dancing? At the launch of season eight, Tess looked radiant in this red dress by British designer Amanda Wakeley which she wore with a crystal-studded Jimmy Choo heel. The dress is from Amanda’s main label (she also designs a collection, Elements, for Littlewoods) which is available on Amandawakely.com

Little Black Dress

Back in July, Tess Daly attended a Formula 1 party with her husband Vernon Kay. The couple looked very smart as they posed in co-ordinating ensembles.
Tess wore a gorgeous black one shoulder dress by Olivia Rubin. It has a sheer black layer with knotted shoulder detail – the perfect LBD for any party!

Carrie Bradshaw eat your heart out. Hundreds of Irish women are now the proud owners of a pair of Choos.

Jimmy Choo for H&M finally landed in Irish stores this morning. At 11.30am I arrived at H&M South King Street, Dublin (one of only two Irish shops selling the range), to what I can only describe as, a melee of women surging towards a corner of the shop stocked with blue boxes. (Ironically enough, the word melee means “rugby scrum” in Spanish..so you can draw your own conclusion as to what the scene looked like!).

No one knew which size or model they would get their hands on, but they were a determined bunch who then filtered back to anywhere in the shop to try on their secret surprise.

“Finally, a pair of Jimmy Choos” was one of many a gleeful shriek which echoed across the shop floor while the rest of us looked on in amazement from afar – some even, from outside the shop.

In fairness, H&M were really organised; H&M Dundrum Town Centre even published their queuing system on their website in advance of the launch. For the first 160 people who queued outside, some overnight, waiting for a 9am opening, staff handed out colour codes which gave you access for 10 minutes to the shoes, bags and accessories section.

After 11.45am, there were no colour codes which resulted in an initial crowd “surge” forward, with the realisation that the stock was quickly running out.

The launch is the seventh collaboration between H&M and a designer brand. It is the first time H&M has teamed up with an accessories brand and the first time Jimmy Choo has branched out into clothes.

But boy oh boy, was there a lot of shopping going on. As there is only one delivery for this collection, the animal instinct kicked into action as women battled to get a Jimmy Choo, ANY Jimmy Choo! I’ve never seen such passion for shopping. Recession my foot!

I met two Spanish ladies who got their hands on the black thigh high boots ( one of them is pictured above centre), which are made of really soft leather and look amazing.

Amy, seen here proudly sporting her coveted shoe box, was delighted with her Jimmy Choo strappy sandals and said it was definitely worth the queuing, the scuffle and the wait.

Also pictured is Kamelia (right), modelling the two black leather Jimmy Choo handbags she was about to buy – the smaller one prices at €99 and the larger one at €199. The waft of leather from them was quite apparent and they were emblazoned with a silver badge, engraved with Jimmy Choo.

Kamelia told me that she had queued that morning and had bought some of the clothing range but ended up coming back in and returning them, as again it was a “grab what you can” system and none of the clothes really suited her. To get her mitts on the accessories however, Kamelia adopted a different strategy and waited in the wings for the discarded items the other shoppers had grabbed and not purchased.

The entire Jimmy Choo collection has a strict 5 day returns policy which was clearly labelled on the flyers H&M handed out explaining the colour code shopping system. Shoppers were only entitled to one piece/size of each item.

The verdict

Worth waiting for: The shoes themselves. The black or red strappy sandals cost €99, whereas the thigh high leather boots cost €249; a €500 + discount on a comparable pair from the usual Jimmy Choo collection.

Not worth the price tag: The leather studded wristbands at €25-€30 a pop.

My personal favourite from the clothes collection: a grey suede asymmetric dress €199, as worn by Demi Moore.

Some say his shoes are a recipe for broken ankles. Carrie never complained when she wore them in Sex and The City. I’m talking about Jimmy Choo shoes.

And you all know about their upcoming collaboration with Swedish High Street king H&M which was revealed here this summer.

Although the collection doesn’t launch until 14 November, images of Jimmy Choo’s collection for H&M have gradually been leaking onto the Internet. The collection includes men’s and women’s clothes, shoes, bags, and accessories.

In Ireland, the collection will sold in H&M Dundrum & H&M South King Street (Stephen’s Green).

The latest images of the ladies’ wear reveal a suede mini dress, a jumpsuit, zebra-print stilettos, flats shoes and at least one jumpsuit.

From the pictures I’ve seen, the clothes and accessories seem to be like anything you could buy in Topshop. But my feeling is that folk will still buy these because of the name.

From the men’s footwear, there is a cool black pair of ankle boots (pictured left) very similar to a Hugo Boss style from last year. I think I’ll be earmarking them for my other half’s Christmas present!

However, what I’m really excited about are the womens shoes, even though there’s no indication of what price they will sell for.

They look like they stay true to typical Choo style with sky high heels and lots of disco glamour. There are a couple of pairs of pumps and also this season’s hottest boots – thigh high boots. They’ve got to be cheaper than normal Jimmy Choo’s though, right?

Keith Duffy of Boyzone was on hand to launch the collection with his wife Lisa (pictured).

Pictured here wearing the Twillen bootie is Lisa Duffy – out of both pairs of boots we prefer this shorter, black bootie with tweed on top.

25% of the proceeds from sales of these boots go to Irish Autism Action. Lisa commented that “it is a cause that is very close to their hearts”, as their own daughter Mia was diagnosed with autism. Keith is patron of Irish Autism Action and has worked hard to promote autism issues.

WhatSheWears.ie went along to the event check out the style.

Keith and Lisa Duffy

Keith looked handsome in a grey chalk pinstripe Tom Ford suit. Lisa wore a Balmain dress from the Designer Rooms in Brown Thomas. Later at the charity auction, she looked radiant in a cobalt blue dress and a pair of Jimmy Choo booties with diamante detail.

Leigh Arnold

We had the pleasure of speaking to the lovely Leigh Arnold, (actress from RTE’s The Clinic). She showed up to the event with her sister Chloe. Leigh wore a figure hugging gold dress which she borrowed from her sister, and accessorised with a tan coloured belt. The dress itself is from Savida.

Like the rest of us, it’s good to know that this leading lady opts for high street sometimes too. On that note, Leigh’s co-star in The Clinic, Amy Huberman, was spotted in H&M by St Stephen’s Green last Thursday and wore a fab Topshop tea dress when she judged ladies day at the Dublin Horse Show.

Whilst browsing the shops I’ve noticed lots jewelled sandals and shoes. Inspired by gladiator sandals with a touch of jewel, they look like a great way to add a some glamour to your wardrobe.

With so many great sandals out there, it can be difficult to decide, especially with increasing all the sparkly footwear about! Hence, we give you our Top 5 favourite jewelled sandals, which this time around, are all flats.

We hope your toes are in tip top shape for these (note to self to get a pedicure this weekend).

1. Studded Gladiator Sandal, New Look, €25
More stud than bejewelled, these are also available in white or gold. For more on how to wear gladiator sandals, check out the article here.

2. Jewel Jelly Toe, La Senza, €14 Ideally suited for the beach because of the jelly material, give your feet some glitz and glamour with these gorgeous eye-catching jewel flip flops in dazzling blue. These are also available in neon pink!

3. Jimmy Choo, “Wilma” sandal, Brown Thomas or Footcandystore, €315
For those of you who like designer sandals, splurge on these brown thong sandals from Jimmy Choo. They come in metallic patent leather with a hand-polished, logo-etched resin stone. Hence the high end price.

4. Evans, €29
If you’re after a more ethereal look to your outfit, opt for these tan coloured toe loop sandals with jewel detailing.

5. New Look, €29
Again, this high street chain has made it into our Top 5 for their great selection at keen prices. These flip flops are bejewelled on one side only and have a small heel and a wooden sole. They also come in white or pewter.
