Ask the Stylist: Silk T-shirt

Dear Ask the Stylist

Please help me source a plain black silk t shirt. I bought a lovely pair of cream and black tuxedo trousers and haven’t been able to wear them since as I’ve nothing plain enough to wear them with.  I haven’t been able to find one anywhere I’ve looked so would really appreciate your help. Linda by email.

You haven’t mentioned your budget but a silk t-shirt is usually around the €100+ mark due to the luxury fabric.  Designers such as Saint Laurent and Alexander Wang do great black t-shirts this season. You’ll find them at Brown Thomas and I’ve linked to them below so that you can see what they look like online. The Brown Thomas sale starts on Thursday so you may be in luck and get them for less.

T by Alexander Wang  (pictured on the right above) has a crewneck collar and a relaxed fit.

Saint Laurent at Brown Thomas (€370) is beautiful label, but may be lot to pay for a black t-shirt.

Alternatively, All Saints do a lovely one (£40), which is a vneck style (Pictured above left).

If it’s round neck you’re after All Saints do a round neck silk t-shirt too (£55). All Saints, Coppinger Row, Dublin 2.

Irish label Lennon Courtney have a perfect black t-shirt – the fabric has a silk look and feel but is actually a very durable synthetic fabric. It’s now on sale reduced from €50 to €25 online.

Hoping that one of these will match your tux trousers perfectly.
