Shopwatch: Jigsaw

Good news for fans of British label, Jigsaw.

It’s set to join the line-up at Arnotts Department Store, after a two year absence from the Irish market.

Autumn/Winter 14 sees Jigsaw embrace some of the most exciting cities, taking context from silhouette, fabrication and sheer style.

Paris is always at the fashion fore. Renowned for elegance from haute couture to street, the distinctive Parisian twist is easily identifiable within our collection. We’ve pieced it together with a Left Bank ease that is coveted by many, and juxtaposed the pretty with harder, more austere lines. Team your tea dress – whether ditsy print or polka dot – with a chic leather biker boot, coil an oversize scarf around your neck, and shrug into a denim jacket: effortless but elegant.

The reefer and the pea coat are staples here, and don’t be afraid to bring out the Breton from your summer wardrobe or grab our autumn/winter update to team with these essential coats. Finish with the super-skinny jean and a sky-high stiletto. Alternatively, the slash-neck knit sits perfectly with this story as does the check lumber shirt. Don’t forget to accessorise with a luxurious, squashy leather tote which comes in a number of delicious tannery shades.

The Parisienne lady is ever present in the sleek dogtooth jacquard cocktail coat and matching shift, or our jewel-coloured tweed box jacket with co-ord mini, threaded intricately with gold, bronze and pewter.

Our second stop on the A/W trail is Reykjavik. Here the palest of palettes from powders through to nude and neutrals are worked back with charcoals and black and gentlemen’s club checks including Prince of Wales and mini hounds tooth. Volume sits alongside the most pared down of shapes and sparkle and matte are easy bed fellows.

The ice-blue knitted sheepskin jacket teams beautifully with gingham knitted Ts, or our art print ombre sweatshirt graduating from palest lilac through to deep ink blue. Super-soft velvet sweat shirting trimmed with satin has a luxe feel; wear with the flock sequin or neon check pleat skirt for a sumptuous take on daywear.  Coats are the crux of the collection with the winter-white faux fur collarless coat being unashamedly sophisticated, or the volume parka with oversize faux fur collar -perfect to wear with feature knitwear and our leather tailored trouser.

Jigsaw’s Baroque sweater is a clash of dogtooth and Fair Isle, and is a perfect knit update with a half sleeve to the elbow and matching knit pencil skirt. Cashmere must-haves are given a sports-style update through stitch detail and ‘luxeture’. The combination of luxurious texture sees silk velvet panels appear on sweaters, Merino faded jacquards, and block graphic Intarsias.

Tailoring is architecturally chic as we channel Berlin. Here dark hues abound: deep cobalt, autumn greens and mustard tie in with jet black and slate.  Smoky charcoal herringbone appears on a soft blazer with a slim pant – wear with a dark-wash denim shirt or the season’s essential slim-fit roll necks in a soft cotton and silk mix.

The saturation of colour continues with the “blue depths” print of deepest sea green working across slim fitted dresses, pencil skirts and bracelet sleeve tops. The car-coat sits within this story as the elegant throw on for colder climes.

Accessories include the re-invented bucket bag in black, tan or leaf red, and in terms of footwear, it’s all about the boot:  leather strappy mid-heel ankles, the Bloomsbury knee boot, or go for deep green suede knee-highs, pixie pointed stab heels or the classic black shoe-boot.
