Shop Watch: Gap to open in Dundrum

Nothing says “basics” like Gap. Our favourite clothes shop for hoodies and cotton essentials is set to open a huge, standalone shop in Dundrum Town Centre, Dublin. Gap currently has a concession floor space at Arnotts in Dublin but the new 8000 square foot shop in Dundrum, which is due to open in May 2009, will give us more Gap essentials in the form of men’s, women’s, BabyGap and GapKids collections.

Apart from hoodies and great cotton t-shirts which are essential for layering, GAP is set for a comeback.  Their fruit coloured denim jeans, colour block swim suits and fantastic outerwear are all popular.

So, does this spell the end of our shopping trips to the keenly priced Gap outlet shop at The Outlet, Banbridge, County Down (15 minutes north of Newry on the M1 to Belfast)? It’s great for men’s and kids hoodies, and women’s chinos. But to be honest, it doesn’t have the trendy gear and full range of Gap goodies that us women are after.  So we can’t wait to see what the new Gap shop in Ireland has “in store” for us (forgive the pun).

Shop before you visit at which by the way also ships to Ireland and Europe for €7 approx!

it fascinates me that they are not exploiting a clearly gagging market by providing us with an online store at least. I’m in Tralee with two small kids Dundrum might as well be London… boohoo :-(
