Accessory Alert: Perspex Heels

This spring summer, minimalism with a dash of galactic futurism is set to see us through the coming months. After bringing you the White Shoe in all its reincarnated glory in a recent Trend We Like, we have moved onto the next big shoe trend: the Perspex Heel.

Doing the rounds for some time now via savvy street style icons and the blogger elite (see Susie Bubble in Simone Rocha’s cult perspex brogues above), the perspex shoe is beginning to filter onto the high street. We favour perspex heels, finding them easier to style and more accessible for day to night-time glamour.

Having trawled through the vast selection of perspex heels on offer at the moment, we have settled upon a must-have pair of snakeskin faux leather strappies from Autograph at M&S (pictured top centre) Here’s why!

1) Snakeskin is a classic print along the lines of leopard print and can be teamed with anything to give it that extra touch of glamour. Pairing snakeskin with a touch of fashion-forward perspex heel is the perfect way to incorporate new trends into pre-existing looks.

2) Strappy sandals with chunky heels like the above M&S pair will see you through from day to night-time, both in comfort and styling. A secure ankle strap and sturdy block heel means there’s no chance of dangerous swaying in the office, while still being dressy enough for dinner and drinks in the evening time.

3) Perspex heels can be styled a multitude of ways, especially the above pair in what most fashion fanatics would consider to be a ‘neutral’ print. Wear with slouchy boyfriend jeans for daytime chic, then mix it up at night with a classically over-the-top cocktail dress – the perfect contrast for on-trend perspex.

4) A shoe for all tastes, this M&S pair have a universal quality – always testament to on-trend pieces! This style of Clear Heel Sandals also come in black suede and in nude patent.

5) Last but not least, at €77 from M&S nationwide, these snakeskin strappy sandals are a most affordable take on one of SS13’s many trends.

Will you be investing in a pair?
