The temperature has certainly taken a sharp drop downwards and has been joined by a bitter November rain, so I feel that it’s definitely time to fish out my winter woollies. However, none of my must haves this month’s are woollies – they are all pieces to bear in mind for the upcoming party season! We all need something to look forward to after all…
At this time of year I’m usually practically married to my opaque tights, but this season I’ve been attracted to something flirtier: patterned tights. This semi sheer hosiery is certainly 80’s inspired and the ideal solution to add a twist to an all black outfit. My favourite pair are these Spanx Tight-End Tights in Corset, ($28 online and sold in department stores such as Arnotts and Brown Thomas), which nip and tuck you at the same time. In the same wonderful way that Spanx is famed for its shape wear, it’s now doing it to tights, yah!
Pixie Lott in Collette Dinnigen
My inspiration for this next must have came from seeing young songstress Pixie Lott at the GQ Men of Style Awards, where she wore a dress by Australian designer Collette Dinnigen. It’s from her S/S 2009 collection and is not for sale online. (For those of you interested in Collette Dinnigen; she sells through one online store only, Stylebop).
The metallic and black colours, coupled with the cheeky showing off of skin on top, make it the perfect party dress for this season. I found a similar one to Dinnigen’s in the shape of this VIP Mesh and Sequin Dress (£150, €166) from Lipsy, a favourite brand amongst the X Factor female contestants.
I’m all about statement rings for the party season and this month, I’ve heard the most exciting news about two rings which are extra special.
Burberry bardbed wire ring
Burberry’s new barbed-wire jewellery collection has spiked my interest (forgive the pun!). The jewellery range doesn’t come cheap, and as the mega price tags of the larger pieces are a little painful, this fabulous brass ring will earn you serious style points AND give you change from €120. It’s currently sold out, so get yourself on the waiting list at Burberry.com.
House of Harlow cocktail ring
I adore Nicole Richie’s boho style and was delighted to hear that her House of Harlow collection is now for sale this side of the USA. Snap up this oversized Sunburst cocktail ring, (£51, €57) in order to pack a style punch. Numbers are limited so grab yours now – you can have this item tomorrow with next day delivery from My Wardrobe.
P.S. As it’s my birthday month, I’m secretly hoping for one of these Must Haves for my birthday, any of them would do! Let me know what’s on your wish list this month.
