Millie Mackintosh Launches Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby Festival

 

Style icon and TV personality Millie Mackintosh flew into Dublin on Wednesday, 7th May to launch the 2014 Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby Festival which takes place at the Curragh Racecourse in Co. Kildare from 27th – 29th June 2014. Millie’s racing look for the launch included a Peter Pilotto print dress €1,390 from Brown Thomas and a Boodles vintage diamond necklace (price POA) and Boodles Opal and diamond ‘Peacock’ ring.

Millie is official style ambassador for the 2014 festival and will form part of the judging panel to seek out the most stylish lady on Derby Day, Saturday 28th June at The Curragh racecourse. This year’s Most Stylish Lady prize is worth almost €20,000 and will see the winner walk away with a holiday of a lifetime to Dubai where she will stay at the 5 star Jumeirah Creekside Hotel courtesy of Dubai Duty Free, a Personal Shopping Experience to the value of €3,000 plus a champagne lunch in The Restaurant at Brown Thomas for 4 people as well as a spectacular 18 carat gold diamond pendant from Boodles and an overnight stay at the Five Star Marker Hotel in Dublin.

Famed for her sense of fashion, Millie will showcase her racing style with designer looks from Irish Derby partner Brown Thomas and will sparkle in fine diamonds from Boodles. Speaking about being this year’s style ambassador, Millie commented: “I am a huge fan of horseracing and of course fashion so I’m encouraging all the ladies to put their best foot forward on Derby Day and showcase their unique sense of style to be in with a chance of winning this amazing prize.”

To celebrate The Jack & Jill Foundation being the official charity partner for The Irish Derby, The Curragh Racecourse has also selected 20 Irish designers and personalities to transform regular racing helmets into works of art! Irish fashion designers including Joanne Hynes, Helen Steele, Mary Grant, Umit Kutluk, Martha Lynn, Heidi Higgins and Lucy Nagle have put their unique stamp on their helmets alongside broadcasters Rick O’Shea, Ruth Scott, Dave Harrington and Killian O’Sullivan as well as and Irish Rugby International Cian Healy and model Holly Carpenter, Champion Trainer’s Aidan O’Brien and Jim Bolger along with Champion Jockey’s Joseph O’Brien and Kevin Manning to name but a few. Using materials such as studs, feathers, flowers, paint, silk, leather and other embellishments these ultra-stylish bespoke helmets will be auctioned online at www.curragh.ie with the auction closing to coincide with The Dubai Duty Free Derby Ball at the K Club on 27th June with all proceeds going towards The Jack & Jill Foundation.

The three-day Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby Festival is unrivalled in terms of its prestige and tradition and as the ultimate event of the summer season offers race-goers the finest style, racing and entertainment. As well as style and racing, guests on the day can enjoy a variety of local Kildare hospitality and artisan dishes at the Derby Food Paddock located in the heart of the action beside the parade ring.
