Collection We Covet: Matthew Williamson for H&M

Matthew Williamson, the British designer, has produced a capsule collection for H&M. To date his own work has had an Indian influence which is most likely due to his time spent working in India for Monsoon. Williamson’s muses are British also, and he counts celebrities like Sienna Miller and Cat Deeley as his friends and collection ambassadors.

Back to the H&M collection

Following the trend of top designers designing collections for affordable, high street shops (last year H&M had Comme des Garcon) the mass frenzy created by this forthcoming collection has caused the Swedish shop to go all out and make extra provisions.  The first batch is due to hit 200 H&M shops on 23 April.

The second batch or collection, which will include Williamson’s first ever men’s collection, will hit worldwide shops on 14 May i.e. all 1,700 H&M shops will have the Matthew Williamson collection. We expect the Irish shops to feature in this second round. This is the first time in H&M history where such a collaboration will be available in all H&M shops.

So what should you expect to see from the Matthew Williamson for H&M collection?

  • Peacock feather influences
  • Ethnic influences
  • Colourful patterns
  • Shorts
  • Skirts made of leather, sequins, silks and cashmere
  • Prices ranging from €50 to €350

The photos featured above are of the first collection. We have learned that the “very colourful” May 14 collection photos are top secret so far…so we all await more information with bated breath.  Happy Friday!
