I’ve always wanted to indulge in a London stay in the West End, taking in some shows and shopping and my recent trip to London Fashion Week (I’ll stop harping on about it now with this final mention!) made that wish a reality.
When in London, I normally stay with my sister in Ealing, but this time I opted for a night on the town, staying at the Irish owned Marylebone Hotel.
A night on the tiles was not quite the plan after a frantic day of fashion shows but I did enjoy a splendid evening catch up with my sister over dinner in St Christopher’s Place, followed by a Sunday exploration the dinky boutiques and eateries in Marylebone Lane and shopping in nearby Oxford Street.
The neighbourhood is fancy; think beautiful Georgian houses and terraces (including Harley Street, traditional home of England’s best doctors, which has recently become the heart of the UK’s flourishing plastic surgery industry) yet it’s within 2 minutes walk of Oxford Street, Madame Tussauds and The West End theatres.
I love modern, contemporary hotels and The Marylebone was every bit the swish boutique experience that I had hoped for. The restaurant and breakfast room is located to the rear of the hotel and come sun down, happens to be the funky bar located at 108 Marylebone Lane.
To see the inside of my room, watch this quick video I shot (1:41 min).
