Line We Love: Manley

Emma Kate Manley’s creativity and vision has captured our hearts, so without further ado, we’d like to introduce you to Manley, a Line We Love.

Dublin born and based, Emma Kate Manley, studied Fashion Design in Dublin and then moved to New York where she interned with luxury sportswear label VPL, heading up designs for a number of NY Fashion Week shows.

A move to Alexander McQueen in London saw Emma hone her skills in embellishment and design. There she worked on S/S and A/W 09 collections under Sarah Burton, including Lee McQueen’s final show at Alexander McQueen.

Manley is a play on words, and is anything but an androgynous aesthetic. Feminine frivolity and urban street-wear, juxtapose to make garments hard and soft, powerful and preciously delicate at once.

The Manley spring summer line is full of contemporary separates and we especially love the leather skirts and dresses, all embellished with studs.  The longer leather and metallic dresses with chiffon skirts are perfect for the girl who wants alternative evening wear. The contrasting sheer panel on the skirt to the edgy leather on top is the perfect mix of sultry and sophisticated.

Our top pick: the cape is set to be a key look for AW12 and the grey Hail studded cape €275 (pictured far left) will stand out over any ensemble.

Availability: Bow, Powerscourt Townhouse, Dublin 2.

Check out these standout pieces below from the label’s S/S 12 collection and on Emmamanley.com  and you’ll soon count Manley among your favourites too.
