Fresh from last minute touch ups as Irish actors headed towards the IFTA’s stage, we caught up with MAC’s Senior Artist, Lesley Keane, to get the lowdown on she put together the makeup looks on the night as part of MAC cosmetic’s involvement as official beauty partner of the awards.
This industry insider certainly knows her makeup – she counts Cat Deeley, Kanye West and Anna Friel amongst her celebrity appointments – so read on to see her tips and tricks on how she got guests looking flawlessly fabulous last Saturday.
What were the key makeup looks at the IFTA’s?
There was a lot of old school, Hollywood glamour on the red carpet, with red lips taking a Veronica Lake finish. The Irish women are really embracing natural beauty and the tan is a thing of the past this year.
What are your top 3 products for film and TV?
M·A·C Mineralize Skinfinish is perfect for a camera flawless look and M·A·C Fluidline is a must for a smudge-proof look during those tear jerking story lines. M·A·C Lip Pencil in Spice is best for giving the ultimate on screen pout!
Show us how you did Ruth Negga’s makeup (pictured top left)?
Ruth wore a green Joanna Hynes dress so we brought an intense green into her eye makeup too. Other products I used are illustrated below.
What about Denise McCormick (pictured above right)?
With Denise, I went for a dark smokey eye to compliment her navy gown which looks so great against Irish skin.
