L’Oreal Colour Trophy

On Monday evening WSW was invited to attend The L’Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy – the world’s longest running and largest, most directional live competition in hairdressing, presenting hairdressing salons across Ireland with the platform to showcase their unique talent.

It was the ultimate head-to-head which earlier that take took place in O’Reilly Hall in UCD but there could be just one overall winner on the evening, fighting off stiff competition, Peter Mark, South William Street, reigned supreme as this year’s L’Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy winner.

There were also 3 other awards up for grabs on the night which included; the Men’s Image Award was won by House of Colour, Middle Abbey Street, the Irish Tatler Style Award was won by Peter Mark, Dundrum and finally the Young Colourist Award 2011 which was won by Hession Hairdressing, Clontarf. Our latest hairdressing crush, Davey Davey was runner up in the men’s category.

Attendees were treated to a three course meal, a fashion show dedicated to Alexander McQueen and a futuristic production by Zeba Hairdressing styled by Roxanne Parker and made over by Ken Boylan. We fell in love with the leather corsets and neck “braces” by Irish fashion designer Una Burke, who was asked to custom produce eight pieces for Lady’s Gaga’s latest music tour.

Hairdressers really know how to party. We witnessed amazing hairstyles, the best groomed men in Ireland (including uber tanned men in shorts!) at an awards event where the dress code was “anything goes” – and boy did this set dress up.

As the buses arrived to cart people off to the after-party in Krystle, we shied away like Cinderella at midnight reassured that the Oscars of Irish Hairdressing celebrations would go on well into the night without us.

Here are some more photos from the night for your perusal.
