Beauty: Lessons in Lipstick

Pictured left Karim Sattar and I. Pictured right: Baked to Last Blush.

Following on from my previous rant about the sparkly stuff that The Body Shop have brought out for Christmas (if you missed it, catch it here), I have more pictures and tips to share with you from a blogger event the brand hosted for us recently.

I first met Karim back in May when he introduced us to the Nomadic Goddess (summer trend) collection and his humorous banter kept us entertained once again on a cold October evening and the best part was when he treated each one of us to a makeover!

Here’s Karim showing me some makeup love, using the 02 Midnight (€22.50) eyeshadow palette which I’m holding in the main picture.

Lipstick

I’ve always preferred lipstick over lipgloss and am always keen to try out new shades and trends. A huge fan of pink lipstick myself, including colour 59 Neon Pink ( €12.50) which Karim is seen here applying to Kirstie from Beaut.ie. It’s one of The Body Shop’s new moisturizing range called Colourglide which contain beeswax for soft suppleness and after seeing it in person, I’m dying to go back and buy it for myself.

Not one to miss an opportunity to ask for some top makeup tips to share with y’all, I asked Karim what his secret is to making lip colour last.

He swears by using a lip brush to apply your favourite shade of the bottom lip and then advises to “carefully press the lips together. Enough product will be transferred to the top lip and you just have to extend it to areas that need more coverage. Using a brush will make your lip colour last longer!”

Skincare

When it comes to prepping your skin, Karim’s top tip for a very special occasion is to use a suitable eye cream all over the face and lips as this will result in a more even skin structure .

“This technique is just perfect for brides. After each step of creating the perfect base, use the amazing Vitamin E Facial Mist as this will let your application appear much more natural and your face will appear more moisturised”.

Alas, as beautifully made over that I was by the end of the evening,  the only down side was that  it was a severe case of “all dressed up and nowhere to go”.

I need lessons in Lipstick. I have never been able to wear it as I find it terribly drying and find my lips end up really chapped.
I have about 7 glosses in my handbag ranging from clear gloss to sparkly pink Lip Venom.
I must pop into the Body Shop next time I am in Dublin and get my lipstick on!
    thanks for the info!

Hey Orla, Yes try them, the thing about these ones – and not to sound like a tv ad but because they are a “Moisturizing” lippie (theyve got marula oil from Namibia and organic Community Trade beeswax help to leave lips soft and supple)they should help with the chapping, but I’d also keep using your vaseline or other chapsticks on your non lippie days. I get chapped lipped a lot in winter myself and use Trilogy, my new must have product(all organic from NZ) which has a great “intensive lip treatment” a tube of balm which has rosehip oil, sage, rosemary and peppermint that I leave on at night and it works wonders when my lips are in bad nick. You can buy it in Arnotts and their website also lists stockists for every county in Ireland see https://www.trilogyproducts.com/stockists
