Guest Editor: Linda Conway

Hailing from the City of the Tribes, stylist and blogger Linda Conway has kindly agreed to be our February Guest Editor so without further ado, here are her favourite buys for Spring Summer ’13.

Spring Summer ’13 trends and how you’ll be wearing them:

I love that the nineties are the era at the fashion forefront this season – I have my dungarees and scrunchie ready to rock! I also love monochrome and found the tailored silhouettes seen at Celine and Alexander Wang to be very exciting. I picked up the above trousers from Zara (pictured above right), which are a great catwalk-to-highstreet take on the monochrome trend.

Favourite indigenous shop in Ireland:

I love Bow Boutique in the Powerscourt Centre, it’s full of gems and filled with Irish designers like Manley and Eilís Boyle. Shutterbug in Kilkenny is another favourite for those super special vintage finds.

Favourite Shop – clothing or otherwise – in another country:

I adore Dover street market in London. It has such an eclectic mix, with multiple floors and designers. Not only can you walk away with a really unique piece, it’s a really inspiring environment to be in. Wolf and Badger – another London based store – stock a wonderful collection of emerging designers. Both stores are always on my hit list during a trip across the pond!

Go-to piece in your wardrobe:

I love basics – skinny jeans and a loose t-shirt are my staple pieces. I use accessories to make a bland outfit exciting. I’m having a bit of a love affair with anything fringed or tailored at the moment.

Shoes and boots are my weakness. Day-to-day I’m running around for shoots so it’s flat boots all the way. Outside of work hours, practicality doesn’t really come into it. At the moment, these Jeffrey Campbell boots are on my lust list (pictured above centre)!

I love changing handbags so I generally stick with the high street, using slouchy bags for daytime and oversized, fun clutches for nights out.. The orange Alexander Wang studded bag, pictured above, would be my perfect bag for S/S13.

Chloe has become my signature scent but a sneaky spray of the boyfriend’s Tom Ford or Gucci cologne has become my new favourite!

Beauty Salon your treatment of choice:

I’m pretty low maintenance, but a hydrating facial is a real treat. I was at the Farnham Estate in Cavan for my birthday last year and the health spa was like heaven on earth. Why did no one ever tell me a hot stone back massage was so good?

Best Bargain buy:

I don’t know if I have one in particular but I’ve been pretty lucky with high street sales. There was a coat I really wanted in Zara last year which I thought was sold out. I ended up nabbing it in the sale for about €20 reduced from €179 – an absolute bargain!

Biggest splurge:

A pair of Christian Louboutins that I’ve only worn about three times. Whoops…

Three words to describe your personal style:

Simple VS Silly!

Fashion pet hate:

Leggings worn as trousers!

Fashion gadget:

A hand-held steamer; I have a big one for shoots but I invested in a hand-held one for myself!

Top style tip:

Have fun! Don’t be afraid to try different things and to make mistakes – everyone does. Style is self-expression and finding what’s right for you is a learning curve.

Most insane thing you’ve ever done for the love of fashion or beauty:

When I was in school I designed and made my own Debs dress. The insane part is that I started it about a week before the actual day and thankfully I had a friend who was a very talented seamstress to help out.
