I love a good day out at the races but had never been winter racing before – that was until yesterday when I went to Lexus Chase Day At The Leopardstown Christmas Festival – aka Ladies Day at one of the biggest racing days of the year.
Graced with blue skies, the day was cold, crisp and windy and dressing for the occasion was really hard and I’d racked my brains over Christmas over what to wear – how to stay warm but still (try to) look stylish is not easy!
In the end I opted for a pink and navy combo of a wool trilby hat which I bought on ASOS, teamed with a navy trench coat and jumpsuit. Here’s a pic of my sister Noreen and I.
A handful of us had been invited along for the day: the charming Darren Kennedy (Helpmystyle -who looked dapper in a dickeybow and plaid shirt), Alexandra Ryan (Evening Herald), Bairbre Power (Irish Independent) myself and the judges for the Most Stylish Lady competition; Jessie Collins, Sonya Lennon and Gillian Walsh.
An enjoyable day of placing bets (I even backed a winner in Quiscover Fontaine), checking out the form and the style and mulled wine ensued and I took some photos of the Ladies Day Style for you to enjoy.
