Line We Love: Lennon Courtney

Pictured above: White “Star dress” (€389, also comes in black), black tube dress (€179) worn with navy cape (the cape also comes in black), bell skirt (€149.50) and t-shirt.

There were squeals of delight when I checked out Lennon Courtney yesterday at Arnotts SS13 press day – it’s the brand new clothing line from Sonya Lennon and Brendan Courtney.

Born from their years of styling women on RTE’s “Off the Rails” and beyond, Sonya Lennon tells us that “a woman dressing herself to go to a wedding or give a boardroom presentation – no problem! But ask her what she wears on her downtime and she’s often lost for words and outfit ideas”.

And so, the collection includes key pieces for the weekend – silk blend t-shirts with flattering cowl necks, cotton cashmere knitwear knits that flatter the arms and cinch the waist – it’s evident that no expense has been spared to give the line that luxurious touch.

All 32 pieces are understated, Irish designed and the result of listening to what women want. The duo say ‘We want our customers to open their wardrobes and see loyal friends and hard working pieces relevant to them, based on their body shape and lifestyle. Our woman is smart, stylish and doesn’t like to get caught in a trend-rush… we know where women need help concealing and what to accent.”

This brings us to their hero pieces. The minimalistic style that we’ve come to love from labels like COS is apparent throughout  – think clean lined white shirts, tapered trousers, dresses and skirts. They’re all made in the most flattering of materials – they call it their signature “techno fabric” (a mix between structured “scuba” and fluid jersey).

Navy tapered trousers (€89), collarless top in pink (€159.00) white collar (€29.90), airplane scarf (€189), pencil skirt (€98.90) worn with white shirt (€119) detachable peplum and black blazer.

Our top picks? A black tube dress (that’s sleeved!), navy tailored trousers, black tailored biker jacket and the airplane “throw” scarf made from a cotton cashmere mix.

For the ‘Star’ dress, prices range from €59.90 to €389. Other dresses retail from €139-€289.  Trousers and skirts cost €98-€179 and the knits, which are all hand loomed in Ireland, €139-€189.

Availability: Lennon Courtney hits Arnotts on 1st February 2013.
