Accessory Alert: Running Shoes

Towards the end of 2012, thanks to Isabel Marant, we were totally obsessed with wedge runners but for today’s inspiration we’re looking at the traditional runner which is a key shoe in many women’s wardrobes.

Not only is running, gyming and walking top of lots of our keep fit regimes, runners even grace the feet of office workers nationwide as a functional shoe to get you to work quicker than you would in heels.  But their function doesn’t stop there.

Top of the street style blogs recently, we saw running shoes worn with skirts – first on Stockholm Street Style (pictured left) were these Nikes with a neon swoop and then on (pictured centre), where Sabrina wore her Nikes with a COS longsleeve shirt, J.W. Anderson skirt, Céline bag and Rag & Bone sunglasses.

So whether you’re a walker, runner, gym bunny or high fashion addict, here’s a roundup of our favourite running shoes for women, which are all in the shops right now and are sure to give you a great gym-to-street edge.

Red Puma Faas 200R

We love this bright pair of runners which not only are super light, but Puma say that this runner will increase your running speed up to 10 minutes. (€70, Life Style Sports)

Yellow adidas Adipure TR360

From the new ultra flexible pure training collection, this neon yellow pair of runners will make sure you stand out from the crowd (€80, Life Style Sports).

Black Nike Dual Fusion Run

Black runners are the top choice for many women who like their runners to blend in with their dark training gear or work wardrobe. This pair will do the job if you want to look good but don’t want to spend much (€75, Life Style Sports).

Adidas Boost

We have a pet peeve here at – lots of Irish women wear grey or white runners to and from work  and it’s not a great look with black opaque tights – in fact with anything!  Our style tip? Go for a black pair such as the new Adidas Boost (pictured above, €130 at Life Style Sports). It’s a running shoe with a revolutionary “Boost” technology which almost makes the shoe come to life, and you will feel it from the first moment you put it on. It’ll also suit the more serious runners amongst you.
