On Saturday October 2nd, LA Make Up Academy, Ireland’s leading provider of training for make-up artists, fashion stylists and beauty professionals, will host an open day for anyone looking at entering the world of beauty, fashion and professional make up for fashion, TV, theatre, bridal and photographic work as part of the Dublin Festival of Fashion.

From 11am – 5pm, the team of tutors at LA Make Up Academy, all working professionals in the industry, will showcase the various areas that courses at LA Make Up Academy cover through their full and part time courses. Guests will enjoy complimentary make-overs from the LA Make Up team, demonstrations in specialist body paint, special effect make –up and high fashion make-up for catwalk with entertainment on hand throughout the day.

With a range of full and part time courses available, the LA Team will be on hand to talk to potential students about what life is like as a professional make–up artist, qualifications and portfolio requirements and advice on how to approach training.

Held in their Chatham Street studio just off Grafton Street, guests will also be able to avail of one off discounts such as €100 discount off any course booked on the day.

LA Make-Up Academy run a range of full and part time courses in make-up application, special effects, airbrushing, hair styling, fashion styling, beauty therapy and specialist areas such as tanning and threading.

One of LA Make Up Academy’s newest courses is their full time 1 Year Make-Up Specialist Degree. Designed for those seeking a career as a professional make-up artist, the 1 Year Make-Up Specialist Course is a full time course that brings students from foundation level through to bridal & high fashion/photographic, tattoo covering, male make-up, black & white photographic. Students will then progress to make-up for high def TV and Film including straight ageing, airbrushing, special effects, prosthetics, hairstyling and male grooming, 5 star client conduct training, fitting facial hair and wigs.

Taught at the LA Make-Up Academy Studios at Chatham Street in Dublin’s City Centre, students experience the highest level of training, taught by tutors from both Ireland and abroad. Everyday brings a different tutor teaching the latest methods and techniques. All tutors at LA Make-up are working make-up artists who are both in touch and informed on the latest in the world of make-up.

Upon completion of the 1 Year Make-Up Specialist Course, students will receive an ITEC certificate and will be entitled to receive ‘pro cards’ and discounts from MAC, Make-up 4 Ever, Faces, The Body Shop and Bobbi Brown that will enable them to purchase items at a heavily discounted rate for that all essential make-up kit.

Throughout the course, students will be provided with professional models from top Dublin agencies and also work with a leading photographer, and hair stylist on shoots. These images will create the important images for their essential portfolio. Students will also have the opportunity to work on live photoshoot and avail of LA Make-Up’s work experience programme.
