The Search for the Perfect Pair of Jeans Part II

Jeans shopping and finding the perfect pair is a hot topic amongst WhatSheWears.ie readers – thanks for all your tips and comments on last week’s article.

So, as planned, I went along to the Jeans Genius personalised style sessions at Whitewater Shopping Centre on Saturday and it really was a revelation.

Stylist Jules Fallon got to work on me and we had so much fun together. Craic aside, she really is a Jeans Genius so if you every see her Jeans Genius workshops advertised , I urge you to go do it!  The women I met leaving their style sessions were literally elated, having found a perfect pair of jeans to suit their budget.

First of all Jules got me to try Not Your Daughter Jeans. These really are wonder jeans which suck in problem areas like tums and they really felt like a second skin on. So much so that I went down 2 sizes when I tried them on. At €140 from Pamela Scott they are not cheap – but Jules said that they are like Spanx for women wanting to hide lumps and bumps and really transform your shape.

Next I tried – River Island’s “Molly” mid rise jeggings. I loved these as an everyday jean and for the nice bum shape they gave me (who’d have thought that one can show your backside in jeggings but with them looking more like jeans now and not like leggings it is OK to wear shorter tops so long as you don’t risk showing a camel toe – which means your jeans are too tight anyway).

The best jeans that Jules found for me on the day were definitely the Vero Moda Super Stretch Wonder Jegging (35 euro). They look and feel like the Doctor Denim brand at Brown Thomas and definitely have a bit more dressiness about them than the River Island pair.  It’s ironic because Vero Moda’s jeggings were my go-to skinny jeans back in 2010 so it’s good to know that they are still offering great jeans for under €50.

I bought the Vero Moda Wonder Jegging in black at Twenty 1 in Whitewater Shopping Centre (which sell Vero Moda) and will wear them as my “good” going out jeans with heels or heeled boots.  Jules advised that, as I am short, I should opt for a pointed heel or shoe instead of a round one as it elongates the leg.

My other “perfect” pair which I discovered thanks to Jeans Genius is the high waisted “Cherry” style from Oasis (€55). They work wonders on a wide hip or if you’ve got roll under your bum and are comfy while looking good on. They literally “lift” your bum, giving you that Beyonce booty shape!  I tried them on in burgundy above but bought them in jade green and am planning on wearing them with black or white as my everyday jean.

The free Jeans Genius jeans styling sessions continue this Saturday 13th October at WhiteWater Shopping Centre. You can book your free style appointment through the Whitewater Shopping Centre Facebook page or by calling 045 449002.
