The 4th Annual Golden Egg Irish Fashion Innovation Awards take place in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Galway on Thursday 28th March.

Recognised as a launching pad for Ireland’s top designers, this year’s event has attracted entries from over 120 up and coming fashion creative’s competing for the prestigious awards.

A shortlist of aspiring designers and students from fashion colleges throughout the country will showcase their top designs in the hope of being crowned winner across one of five categories- ‘Student Designer of the Year’, ‘Accessory Designer of the Year’, ‘Jewellery Designer of the Year’, ‘Millinery Designer of the Year’, ‘Fashion Designer of the Year’.

Shortlisted entries include students from national colleges such as National College of Art and Design, Limerick School of Art and Design, Galway Technical Institute and University of Ulster.

Eight rising stars, including Laura Jayne Halton who has designed the Oscar red carpet dress for Kerry short film producer Fodhla Cronin O’ Reilly, will showcase their latest collection in the ‘Ones to Watch’ category.

Award winning French-born, Kerry-based Delphine Grandjouan will be also displaying her stunning new collection as the Special Guest Collection Finale to the show. The House of Delphine was the recipient of the Irish Brides Magazine Bridal Designer of the Year Award and also of the Kerry Designer Award.

Adjudicators on the night are Eddie Shanahan Chairperson at the Council of Irish Fashion Designers, Lisa Brady, Sunday Business Post fashion journalist and Patricia McCrossan, Managing Director of Golden Egg Productions.

The brainchild of Patricia McCrossan of Golden Egg Productions the awards give visibility, support and a voice to young design talent throughout Ireland, offering an unrivalled opportunity for their work to be shown to a jury made up of fashion design experts.
“The Golden Egg Fashion Innovation Awards are unique in Ireland- and they are seen as providing a rite of passage for many of our top designers as they make their way up the rungs of the fashion ladder,” says Patricia.

“We have a fantastic track record to date with some of Ireland’s best know designers making their national debut at the Golden Fashion Innovation Awards. Our “Designer of the Year” 2012, Natalie B Coleman has enjoyed huge success since the show last year dressing Irish stars such as Kathryn Thomas, Sharon Corr, Charlene McKenna and Laura Whitmore,” concluded Patricia.

The Golden Egg Fashion Innovation Awards are sponsored by Lancôme, Hartmann’s of Galway, Brown Thomas, Galway County and City Enterprise Board, Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa Galway, Diageo and GALWAYnow Magazine.

To celebrate the 4th year of the awards, organisers are offering early bird tickets for €25. Tickets include pre-show drinks and canapés, goodie bags and the awards ceremony along with a fantastic after-show party to start off the Easter weekend in style.

    I want these tickets so badly, have been looking in envy for the last couple of months but although I’m a fashion blogger, I’m also a student and SO strapped for cash!Please please please let me go, handing in my thesis (to do with fashion of course) that day and I’ll need a little treat!x

    Would love these tickets! Have also wanted to go for ages but am a broke student so can’t afford to buy any. Last years awards looked amazing, would hate to miss them again this year! :)
