Are you struggling to find that perfect accessory to complement your new Christmas outfit or party dress and are bored with what the high street has to offer? Then why not spend your euro on an accessory designed and made in Ireland.

Whether you are looking for a dramatic necklace or a chic chapeau, funky gloves or a snazzy clutch  – there are plenty of stylish and affordable products currently available that will add the finishing touch to your overall look.  Here are some of our favourites.

Clutch

Made from organic materials and sustainable fabrics designer Lorna Burton’s ‘CoraLlei’ handbags are both fashion forward and ethically friendly. Give your wardrobe an instant style hit with this oversized navy and brown ‘Alexa’ clutch made from Italian produced vegan leather and ribbed cotton (€220). CoraLlei’s stylish devotees include Livia Firth, Annette Bening and Karen Millen.

Jewellery

Innovative jewellery designers Muireann Walshe and Niamh Spain have also used unorthodox materials in their creations. Muireann’s large multicoloured rings (€90) and her quirky version of the Tara Brooch (€220) are all handcrafted from anodized aluminium while bespoke and commercial designer Niamh Spain has taken inspiration from contemporary architecture for her geometric shaped perspex necklaces (€150) and matching bangles (€30).

Bow boutique in the Powerscourt Townhouse is my go-to-store for accessories with a difference and I particularly liked MoMuse’s large gold and onyx hoop earrings, at €50 they are a perfect day to night earring and would make great stocking filler for those with an eye for style.

For uber cool fashionistas who prefer their jewellery a little edgier log on to www.risecreatives.com for fab urban looking ‘Graffiti Rings’ from Cianan Doyle (€80).

Gloves

Based in Dublin’s Westbury Mall Paula Rowan’s beautiful selection of luxury suede and leather gloves have appeared in all the major fashion glossies -Elle, Grazia, Image and Hello. Gloves are a key fashion trend for Autumn/Winter 2012 and Paula’s designs come in varying lengths and colours and are lined with silk, fur and cashmere.

Her celebrity client list include Princess Charlene of Monaco, Cheryl Cole, Ronnie Wood, Helen Mirren and Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas. This Christmas treat someone special to a pair of rainbow bright ‘Nina’ unlined leather gloves for €49.95.  A one stop shop for great gift ideas, Paula also stocks key rings, belts and other high quality leather goods.

Hats

Turn heads this festive season with a hat from award winning milliner Carol Kennelly’s ready to wear collection. Brighten up your winter coat with the ‘Samantha’ mustard felt trilby (€95) or dazzle guests at a winter wedding with this bejellewed hot pink velvet ‘Gigi’ percher (€320).
