Houndstooth is a print that comes and goes every few seasons and its back with a bang for autumn winter 12. We’ve found three chic ways to wear the print which nods to minimalist chic with a futuristic twist!
Gwyneth Paltrow’s houndstooth coat
Gwyneth Paltrow was papped in London wearing a gorgeous Stella McCartney houndstooth coat which she set off with a pair of red peep toe boots. 60s fashion is back and you’ll find lots of hound’s-tooth print coats in the shops right now. We especially love this swing coat from Pied a Terre at House of Fraser to get Gwyneth’s look.
If a winter coat is not on your radar, perhaps a dress will fit the bill instead? Marks and Spencer have this one in store right now (€67.00/£49.50).
Marion Cotillard wearing a houndstooth skirt
Just like with Gwyneth’s look, Marion Cotillard worked the print wonderfully with red accessories at ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ London premiere. She wore a Christian Dior dress made up of a houndstooth skirt and accessorised with a red clutch and red pointed stilettos, also from the house of Dior. We love this look so much that we scoured the shops for you to find this South Houndstooth Pencil Skirt, €34 at Littlewoods Ireland.
Gwen Stefani’s houndstooth blazer
Swap out your black blazer for a houndstooth one like Gwen Stefani does (above). Our favourite pick from the shops is this houndstooth blazer with bell sleeves modelled by Alexa Chung for Vero Moda. (Available in selected Carraig Donn stores nationwide and online at www.carraigdonn.com €69.95).

Love the outfit worn by Gwyneth Paltrow, she is wearing
houndstooth coat from Stella Mccartney. Ideal combination for
nice short miniskirt with beautiful leggings or tights and shoes.
