Ask the Stylist: Graduation Outfit

Dear Ask the Stylist

I need an idea of what to wear for a graduation. I’m 5”2′, 24, slim enough but am a 30E chest size. The problem with most outfits is that if they fit my body they’re too busty and vice versa.  A graduation outfit needs to be classy, not booby. Because of the gown it can’t be frilly or puffy. Help! B.

Congrats on the graduation.

By your description you have an hourglass figure so you have some great curves to show off!

Option 1

The first dress is a sequinned dress from Warehouse €117

The v neck will be flattening for your chest; while the ruching at the waistline will give a little extra space for your bust. The cinched-in waist will show off your figure. Team it with some black opaque tights and suede heels. For this time of year I would recommend closed toe shoes.

Option 2

This tailored dress from ASOS £45/€58.70 has a modern classic look with a lapel detail at the front.

The stretch fabric will help curve around your chest area. The pleat in the back will help give you a bit more room on your upper half. If winter white suits your complexion it will look great teamed with black tights and gold accessories.

Style tip: As you are a petite height you are best wearing short styles that are above your knee, so it’s worth getting dress and skirts adjusted at a dress maker so the length is just right!

Hope you have a great day.
