Eating out at Gourmet Burger Kitchen

Back in 2001, three Kiwi guys set up the first Gourmet Burger Kitchen in London changing the burger scene forever. Now, with 5 restaurants in Dublin, GBK prides itself on serving up a variety of crafted burgers, combining 100% grass fed Irish beef.

GBK Temple Bar, the first restaurant completed in Gourmet Burger Kitchen’s €3.5 million refurbishment plan, reopens on Monday, 15th August. To celebrate, GBK Temple Bar will give away 500 Cheese burgers from midday, this Monday, 15th August on a first come, first served basis!

I got a sneak peek of the restaurant on Saturday which I visited along with Ivan and Ruby and we had a delightful time. Located in Temple Bar Square Gourmet Burger is now a warm, vibrant and welcoming space with bespoke banquettes and retro style l tables. I loved the décor (marble tables, green leather sofas and yellow leather chairs). Staff were super kid friendly and baby high chairs are provided.

GBK is a super hit in our books as Ivan is from NZ so he was right at home eating The Kiwiburger (which with beetroot and a fried egg- two staples on a proper New Zealand burger apparently!). He also had the tasty rosemary skinny fries while I tucked into the bacon avocado burger.

Ivan also pointed out that the squeezy tomato ketchup holders which are on every table in GBK are a firm part of every NZ household- Ruby was fascinated with one for the whole meal.

A bottle of Mahou beer each (and a bottle of milk in Ruby’s case) and a mini tub of ice-cream later and we headed home very happy campers.

Burgers cost from €6-€12.75 with the kiwiburger costing €10.75.
