Today is deemed the gloomiest day of the year. We’re broke after the Christmas splurge and hungry from our New Year’s diet but we hope to cheer you up with some red carpet escapism from The Golden Globes Awards which took place in Hollywood last night
What: Elie Saab gown with floral appliqués, Jimmy Choos and Van Cleef & Arpels jewels
She: Scarlett Johansson
Wears: The Golden Globes presenter went for ’40s-style glamour in demure dress – the originality of her dress choice and extra detail of the brooches worn as hair-clips in her teased hair ‘do, made her one of our favourite looks of the 2011 Golden Globes
What: A red fringed Versace dress and Neil Lane jewels
She: January Jones
Wears: Mad Men’s Betty Draper could’ve stopped traffic with this revealing gown and retro hairstyle – making her another one of our top choices of the night
What: Atelier Versace gown and Robert Procop jewellery
She: Angelina Jolie
Wears: Nominated for her role in The Tourist, Angelina ditched her usual black for a vintage looking long-sleeved style
What: a cream one-shoulder Prada sequined gown with Fred Leighton jewels and Roger Vivier sandals.
She: Nicole Kidman
Wears: Nominated for best actress for her role in the drama Rabbit Hole, the actress looked stunning and made our top four looks of the night
See all the pictures in our 2011 Golden Globes gallery
What: Zac Posen dress, a Sergio Rossi clutch and Neil Lane diamonds
She: Eva Longoria
Wears: The recently single Desperate Housewives star looked striking a black gown with a dramatic cut-out back
What: A strapless forest green Monique Lhuillier ball gown, Van Cleef & Arpels jewellery, Ferragamo shoes and clutch bag.
She: Catherine Zeta Jones
Wears: The actress supports husband Michael Douglas, a best actor nominee for Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps
What: An amber coloured Armani Privé gown embroidered with Swarovski crystals, Roger Vivier clutch, Brian Atwood platforms and Van Cleef & Arpels vintage jewels.
She: Anne Hathaway
Wears: Hathaway was nominated for best actress for Love and Other Drugs and is soon-to-be hosting the Oscars!
What: Oscar de la Renta gown accessorized with Christian Louboutin heels and Lorraine Schwartz platinum jewellery.
She: Lea Michele
Wears: Her rose-colored, one-shoulder dress had with ruffled details – quite the contrast from her 2010 Golden Globe look
What: Marchesa dress, Tiffany & Co. jewels and studded gold Christian Louboutin booties
She: Olivia Wilde
Wears: The Tron: Legacy star and presenter sparkled in an embroidered chocolate brown number
What: A Nina Ricci mini dress with sheer overlay and stacked Harry Winston bracelets
She: Halle Berry
Wears: The best actress nominee for Frankie and Alice shows off her stunning figure this corseted gown
What: Zuhair Murad dress with a sexy slit plenty of Harry Winston jewels, a Swarovski clutch and Christian Louboutin shoes
She: Jennifer Lopez
Wears: JLo looked blingtastic in this white draped gown
What: Armani Privé dress with a Swarovski crystal-embroidered strap, Roger Vivier bag, Lorraine Schwartz jewellery and nude Brian Atwood peep-toes.
She: Megan Fox
Wears: Megan Fox lost some sexy siren appeal in this draining pale pink number, we thought
What: Calvin Klein Collection neon silk halter dress with a gold box clutch from the same designer, Roger Vivier sandals and Fred Leighton jewels
She: Clare Danes
Wears: Danes won best actress for her HBO film Temple Grandin
What: A shocking pink Lanvin dress, nude shoes also by Lanvin, Bulgari jewellery and vintage clutch
She: Julianne Moore
Wears: The best supporting actress nominee showed off her signature avant garde style
What: Vera Wang emerald green gown, a Judith Leiber clutch and Lorraine Schwartz gold jewellery.
She: Mila Kunis
Wears: The Former That 70’s Show babe looked enviable in this draped dress and elegant up do
What: A striped halter neck dress, red platform heels and Lorraine Schwartz diamond and wood bangles.
She: Heidi Klum
Wears: Although the Project Runway presenter walked the red carpet like the pro, we’re not sure if this dress was really red carpet worthy
