Go Buy Now: Puffas

This winter Marios Schwab has placed the puffa back in the style spotlight after putting them on the catwalk.

It’s true that the colder the weather gets, the harder it is to stay chic and a few years ago it was hard to imagine puffas in this category. Luckily, puffa coats are now more streamlined; hence the Michelin Man look is no longer necessary. The trick is not to go too big with them, they need to be fitted and a defined waist is far more flattering look.

There are plenty of styles in the shops right now – you can choose between a long sleeping bag style and a shorter “jacket” length, belted or non belted.

My top choice is this quilted wax coat with duck-down filling from Barbour (€361.81 at asos).

Luckily just the other day I spotted this one in Zara with real down feathers (= very cosy!) for €139 which is a tad more accessible. Zara do puffa coats well year in, year out and have a range of styles and colours.

Benetton is also a great place for puffas. The Italians love the shiny version, but luckily they do all kinds of finishes in Benetton. Prices start at €150 but will be cheaper in the up-coming sales.

Mango have a great belted coat. €139 in black or green.

Finally, Awear have this one in stores right now, reduced from €70 to €35.
