Here are her favourite buys for spring summer 2013 which she’s kindly shared with us as our January Guest Editor.
Spring summer 13 trends and how you’ll be wearing them
I’m excited about white, oriental and 60s mod – I’m thinking white nails, oriental hair pieces and retro eyeliner!
I’ll also be looking for stripes and geometric prints – Whistles have some lovely dresses in both (pictured top left).
Favourite indigenous shop in Ireland
Bow in the Powerscourt Centre has a nice eclectic mix. While I’m there I like a browse in the Loft Market, too – they have some great Irish designers, like Chupi, whose jewellery I particularly like.
Avoca is great for homeware, gifts and food, and obviously I love Brown Thomas, though I rarely get past the beauty hall. Online, Mise Beauty, Cloud 10 Beauty, Beautyemporium.ie and Beauty Matters are regular Irish beauty haunts.
Favourite Shop (clothing or otherwise) in another country
It’s so much fun browsing all the little vintage shops around Brick Lane in London. We just don’t have the same variety here in Dublin. Sephora is a beauty lover’s paradise, and you can’t beat shopping in Zara in Spain!
Go-to piece in your wardrobe
Day dresses – I live in them, layered under my army or leather jackets or a blazer. And my new Me & Kashmiere blue leopard print scarf – a present from himself, from Trilogy.
Shoes
My Buffalo bullet ankle boots are rarely off my feet. And I go through a pair of biker boots a year – I’m tough on shoes.
Handbag
The only designer handbag I’ve ever wanted is a classic Chanel 2.55 with gold hardware – that’s the one without the interlocking C’s on the clasp. While I’m waiting I’ll make do with highstreet – Warehouse and ASOS are my first ports of call.
Perfume
I love Les Exclusifs de Chanel – Beige is my go-to work scent, and I’m thinking of investing in the woody Sycomore. I always have a bottle of No 5 on the go and the new one, Coco Noir, is lovely too. These days I’ve also been reaching a lot for Liz Earle’s No 15.
Beauty Salon & Treatment you get there
I love Carter Beauty in Blackrock and always keep an eye on their website – they do great value seasonal packages. Their medi pedi is amazing. For threading, you can’t beat Bushras on the Northside of Dublin.
Best bargain buy
A gorgeous full length silk and lace nightdress from Myla, about 70% off at Kildare Village. And after trying and rejecting nearly every pair of jeans in Dublin, I took the sage advice of Rosemary MacCabe (our May 2011 Guest Editor) and went for a pair of M&S 5-pocket jeggings (about €30). She’s never steered me wrong – these are super-soft, flattering and comfy.
Biggest splurge
A pair of YSL slingback wedges in BTs that I regret to this day – they were about €300 and I wore them exactly twice; wedge heels are great but I can’t do slingbacks! Beauty wise, Tom Ford’s makeup is my biggest splurge – so expensive, so divine!
Three words to describe your personal style
Relaxed, feminine, irreverent
Fashion pet hate
Louboutins – I know! Shocking! Ever since he stated that he hates comfort, and his designs are dedicated not to pleasing women, but to pleasing men.
Top style tip
No matter what they tell you, comfort is not a dirty word! Although Crocs are one step too far.
Most insane thing you’ve ever done for your love of fashion or beauty
Tried to walk in Louboutins…

I’m intrigued by the m&s jeans, gonna get a pair sent over to me in Aus
Totally agree on the Louboutins I never got the attraction, so many nicer less tacky choices to spend my pennies on!

Sarah-Jane – be careful with the navy jeggings – the colour transfer is terrible but have a maroon pair which are fine!

Where do you buy day dresses? Can’t find a couple that will look good under leather jacket and scarf for spring!

Cheers for the comments guys! Danbar my favourites for dresses are ASOS own collection, Whistles and Cos – hope that helps!
