As influential fashion blog FashionFoieGras.com approaches its third birthday, we thought who better to guest edit this month than the site founder, Emily Johnston.
Established on the premise of having one place where all things newsworthy for fashion and style are reported 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, Emily has built up a very loyal fan base on the blogosphere.
When she isn’t furiously blogging fashion news from around the globe, Emily is contributing to Cosmopolitan, The Huffington Post, Glamour Magazine UK and Stylist Magazine. Today, she offers up an insight in her own personal style and top picks for the season ahead.
- Favourite Autumn/Winter 2012 designer collection
This is toughie as AW is my favourite season and this year was so amazing. I think I’ll have to go with Louis Vuitton as not only was the presentation itself (a gigantic train) amazing, but the collection took fashion back to another age of decadence that we see so infrequently these days. I loved every minute of it and every single piece in the collection.
- Favourite A/W trend and how you’ll be wearing it
This season we are seeing a real swerve towards a regal landscape when it comes to fashion. I can’t help but think of Anna Karenina and big furry hats when I think of this season – See Alice Temperley AW12. So many designers put together looks that had a very Russian Royal feel to them. So I guess you could say I’ll most look forward to working the “regal” feel of fashion for Autumn Winter.
- Favourite indigenous shop in London
- Best Shop (clothing or otherwise) in another country
Capitol in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA…basically defines a fabulous buy each season!
- Go-to piece in your wardrobe
J Brand Jeans.
Ralph Lauren for casual. Louboutin for a daring night out.
Coach, specifically the Fashion Foie Gras Coach bag.
I juggle perfumes as I can’t stand not being able to smell your own scent after you’ve become used to it. At the moment I’m a bit obsessed with anything from Diptyque.
-Beauty Salon & Treatment you get there
Gielly Green. Refuse to go anywhere else for hair or beauty in London.
- Best bargain buy
A fab black wrap dress that I found in a Laura Ashley sale, of all places, years ago. It’s the most gorgeous piece and has lasted forever. Only cost me £35.
- Biggest fashion splurge
It’s Hermes but if I reveal all I might actually get in a little bit of trouble with the other half.
- Three words to describe your personal style
Classic, refined and preppy.
- Top style tip
Always buy the size that flatters your figure. Pay no attention the numbers within. If it looks good who cares what the tag says?
-Fashion pet hate
Flare capris. I just don’t get them. Oh and clogs! Yuck!
- Most insane thing you’ve ever done for your love of fashion
The list is too long… but most recently I did wait in line in a blizzard for a legendary sample sale. I am pretty sure I had frostbite!
