Milan Fashion Week (which is happening this week) eat your heart out. Dublin Festival of Fashion, the capital’s answer to fashion week, takes place this Friday, Saturday and Sunday 1st- 3rd October.
With live fashion shows , the city’s shopping districts will be buzzing with discounts, free styling events, swap shops, accessory-making workshops, pop up fashion cafes serving fashion teamed cocktails and food, plus late night shopping on Friday.
Highlights of the weekend include:
Dublin’s first ever outdoor catwalks
Both Grafton St. and Henry St. will play host to a number of fashion shows, exhibiting emerging autumn collections from a variety of Dublin retailers. These shows will take place daily at the following times and locations;
Friday 1st October Henry St. Fashion Show at 13.30. Grafton St. Fashion Show at 14.30
Saturday 2nd October Henry St; 13.30 and 15.30. Grafton St; 14.30 and 16.30
Sunday 3rd October Henry St; 13.30 and 15.30. Grafton St; 14.30 and 16.30
For the Festival weekend fashion HQ will be based in the Old Habitat Building on College Green. There will be a vintage pop-up store from Barnardos, Rimmel will be giving make up master classes with Ken Boylan and Sarah Wai O’Flynn, Griffith College will have a fashion exhibition with a selection of outfits displayed on mannequins and designed by their fashion graduates and of course there will be plenty of our ‘fashion femmes’ floating around to give you any info you may need for the Dublin Festival of Fashion weekend. Fashion HQ opening hours are as follows; Fri 1st: 12.30 – 17.30 Sat 2nd: 10.00 – 17.30. Sun 3rd: 12.00 – 17:30
Rimmel Master Classes will take place at Fashion HQ on Fri 1st: 12.30 & 15.00. Sat 2nd: 11.00, 12.30, 14.00 & 16.00. Sun 3rd: 11.00, 12.30, 14.00 & 16.00.
Model Flash Mob
At 12 o’clock on Friday the 1st of October a bevy of beauties will take to the streets in a flash mob street strut across the city. 2 groups of ladies with giant pink fashion festival balloons will make their way from Stephens Green and Henry Street across the city where they will finish at both fashion hub catwalks just in time to take to the catwalks for the first on street catwalk shows.
Throughout the Festival weekend, The Church bar and restaurant on Mary St. and The Market Bar on 2 Fade St. will lend themselves to the festival fashion cafes. Both locations offer comfortable areas where you can put your feet up while enjoying some refreshments and pampering by the lovely Rimmel Angels.
In The Church Bar and Restaurant, fashion expert Maureen O’Halloran will be on hand each day of the festival giving seminars on Styling in the Cellar bar area. Nail technicians and makeup artists will be on hand to give festival goers tips and advice on loving your nails and freshening up your look. They will also be featuring the latest autumn looks on mannequins throughout the bar & restaurant.
