Label Love: Onjenu London

You may have heard my rant on about how much I love the Onjenu dress label.

They used to be called Ingenue London (see me write about them here) and I’ve bought quite a few dresses from them in the past. In fact my sister and I are obsessed with buying this label – between us we own at least 10 dresses!).  Why? They do flattering wrap dresses with sleeves in amazing animal prints, all made from silk jersey with elastane which makes them both stretchy and flattering.  Plus they are very like the infamous Diane von Furstenburg wrap dress yet not as costly.

Maxi dress with sleeves

Onjenu have a glorious range of maxi dresses. Amy Huberman previously wore a green maxi dress of theirs on the red carpet and the Onjenu team were kind enough to dress me for the Scottish Fashion Awards in 2012, in the same dress that Amy wore, except mine was a royal blue colour. You can see what I wore here.

Their current range of maxi dresses are uber flattering- my favourite is the Pitot short sleeve maxi dress in a polka dot print.

Wrap dress with sleeves

I don’t know what it is about Irish women but we love dresses with sleeves; for me it’s about covering my upper arms so I always look for a short sleeve dress for summer and come wintertime, a dress with three quarter length or full length sleeves.

If you’re looking for a wrap dress that flatters, then Onjenu is the go-to label for you.  I wore one of their dresses with sleeves to the Dublin Horse Show last year – a leopard print dress.

The style I love most  is the ‘Pitot’.  You can see me wearing this style to an event launch here.  I attended a communion  8 weeks after having a baby, wearing that same dress (the Pitot style) and it still fit me and flatters – cinching the waist and hiding the tummy (here’s a pic of me wearing it on Instagram) . I can’t say that about the rest of my pre-pregnancy clothes!

I also bought a snakeskin style and my sister a leopard print style which we wore to a family party (we forgot to consult pre-party and rocked up in these dresses!).

This summer I look forward to wearing Onjenu’s spring summer styles. My favourite is the timeless navy and white polka dot dress with short sleeves (Issi Navy Dot £89);  I’ll wear it on it’s own or with a white blazer.

Also pictured is the Pitot Demi Graphic Navy  – a graphic print dress with sleeves which would be perfect for the office with a navy blazer.

For occasions, I fancy the Pitot Demi Leo Orange – a turquoise blue leopard print dress with short sleeves (it also comes in 3/4 length sleeves in some other dress styles).

Diane Von Furstenburg wrap dresses eat your heart out- Onjenu wrap dresses win hands down for me everytime.

Details: See for full details and watch their videos on which will show you which style suits you. The price for a dress start at £89 (approx 125E at the time of writing).
