Get the Look: Grecian 2009

Grecian style dresses made a bold statement on the red carpet in 2007, so much so that everyone in Hollywood seemed to be pulling off the Grecian Goddess look from Golden Globe awards to the Oscars.

The look quickly made its way across the Atlantic where we’ve seen it grace black tie events and weddings alike.  The trend continued well into 2008 too, when Katie Holmes (pictured) presented an award at the Critics’ Choice Awards with a one-shouldered Grecian style Lanvin dress.

2009 is no different. Draped, gathered, silk – all conjure up Grecian Goddess images. Versace Spring Summer 2009 showcased some gorgeous asymmetric (one shouldered) gowns to the beat of endless gladiator sandals.

This year, we urge you to wear your draped pieces with exotic, bold, gold jewellery – think Angelina Jolie (as Colin Farrell’s mother) in the film Alexander when she wore a gold cuff high on her upper arm.

Other accessories key to this look include coin bracelets and statement earrings, all in gold hues. Wear your hair down in messy waves or in a tousled up style.
