Beauty: Dove VisibleCare

Dove VisibleCare is no ordinary shower gel – it’s a body wash that’s over 10 years in the making and the small print tells me that it has been “subjected to extensive third party clinical and consumer tests which prove that it delivers visible skin improvement in 7 days”.

Unlike normal shower gels which can leave your skin looking and feeling dry, the secret to Dove’s success is an ingredient called NutriumMoisture™ , which blends skin identical moisturizers to act as buffer against lipid loss and to replenish skin naturally.

Dove VisibleCare (€3.48) is like a Dove beauty bar in a bottle, except that there are three types, each doing something different to your body while you shower:

Renewing
Brightening
Softening

Personally, I used Dove VisibleCare “brightening” which says that one will see visible skin improvement in 7 days and results after three weeks.

I need all the help I can get in the run up to summer where my skin is usually on show more more and I need to get it in order after a dull, covered up, winter.

I’m still using the same bottle four weeks on and my skin feels softer and I don’t feel the need to moisturize after a shower. My skin looked less dull after three weeks, but I was also exfoliating a lot, so I’m not sure that the results were down to Dove alone.

But for someone who’s time poor like me (who isn’t?), this product is ideal.  I recently saw it at half price in Tesco too.

Our What She Wears tester panel also put this product to the test (each trying out a different one from Renewing, Brightening and Softening) and here’s what they said:

Orla (Brightening)

I have to say that I loved the product! It did not seem to dry out my skin as a lot of other products do. I have very dry skin and always have to double moisturise when I get out of the shower, however using the Dove visible care, a light moisturiser has done the trick.

I have also noticed that my skin is a little brighter and more even than before. I think that the great weather we have been having has certainly helped, but I have noticed a difference in my skin tone. It doesn’t seem to be as dull as before.

The only negative I have is that it is really difficult to get out of the bottle. The texture and consistency of the product prevents it from flowing out of the bottle as easily as other gels. However, that is a problem I am willing to live with. I will be buying this product again and will be trying the others too.

Heidi (Renewing)

I found it very rich and thick in texture. It’s pleasant but not strong smelling and I definitely I got away without body lotion (which I would normally use) – except on my lower legs which are prone to being very dry, so they still needed some moisturiser. Visiblecare saved me time though – even if it meant just doing my lower legs after a shower!

Aoife (Softening)

I usually use unscented body wash and have a tendency to get the odd dry patch on my skin.  This product was lovely to use.  It was very creamy and it felt moisturising and smelt great.  I did feel that my skin was slightly softer after the first use but I could have been imagining it.

Since then I’ve used it and I haven’t noticed much difference in the texture of my skin.  However, in saying that, I would probably still use it as it feels so nice on.
