There we were perfectly happy with our new blazer purchase when suddenly we just had to have a denim jacket.
Personally I blame Orlando Bloom’s girlfriend Miranda Kerr seen here stepping out of a beauty salon in Beverly Hills recently in a vintage Levi’s jacket worn over a long black jersey dress. Her eyewear is Ray Ban Oval Sunglasses.
Meanwhile, actress Diane Kruger of Troy fame, went shopping in a shrunken, light coloured denim jacket over a black and white striped T-shirt. She brightened up her look with a lovely lavender-coloured scarf.
Vintage denim jacket
Demand for denim jackets is soaring in vintage shops – especially for Levi’s denim jackets from the 70’s. They are not easy to find mind you. Your best bet is probably EBay where vintage denim jackets range from €27 upwards.
You may well have one tucked away at the back of your wardrobe from your teenage days when denim jackets were all the rage. The key this time around is to wear them fitted or cropped.
Cropped denim jacket
The cropped denim jacket is a cool, nonchalant option in the summer over a floral dress in the evening or, like Miranda, over a black dress for the daytime. Of course it helps to have her figure, but you can get a black jersey maxi dress like Miranda Kerrs in Dorothy Perkins for €40.
So where does one buy a cropped denim jacket? Here are two options, one high street and one designer.
New Look has a dark blue cropped denim jacket (pictured) for €28.
For those of you who prefer a lighter shade of blue denim, try this great value (€90) Dolce & Gabbana one from Dress-for-less.Tweet
