Think chunky, gold, Grecian cuffs and chokers in an array of styles and materials when choosing your autumn/winter accessories. Thanks to the seventies revival, solid metals bracelets and embellished neckpieces are the hottest trend this season.
Lanvin, Elie Saab (pictured far right) and Etro encouraged us to channel our inner Greek Goddess with chunky chokers, meanwhile Michael Kors injected a princess warrior vibe with his armour-esque cuffs and for a softer take on the choker trend, Donna Karan and Moschino layered pearls around the models’ necks.
Chokers
Eva Mendes was recently spotted wearing a gorgeous, super-chunky black and gold choker with a tailored shirt and again in a glamorous white gown with a bold turquoise choker proving that a chic choker gives an instant update to a classic design.
Chokers are perfect for dressing up simple necklines and adding a dose of old school glamour to any ensemble.
Styling tip: Just remember, if you’re going for a real statement choker, leave the earrings off, or work a small, co-ordinating pair.
Or for an easy adaptation of the forties trend, make like Moschino and wrap multiple strands of pearls around your neck.
Cuffs
The cuff was the most popular piece of arm candy at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. Kim Kardashian’s gobstopper engagement ring and 16.5-carat wedding ring were almost overshadowed by the big silver and diamond cuff bracelet (pictured) adorning her dainty wrist.
Actress Zoe Saldana (pictured) and singer Selina Gomez both donned sparkling gold cuffs by New York trend setters’ favourite jewellery designer, Ofira.
In fact, the cuff theme is proving so popular it’s popping up quite a bit as a trend in handbags too (especially at Louis Vuitton).
Styling tip: With cuffs, your best bet is to choose a real stand-out piece for an otherwise pared back outfit.

I’d love to be able to wear them but they just don’t suit me. I don’t think chokers are for everyone.
