Celebrating: St Patrick’s Day

Do you remember when your Mum put a green ribbon in your hair and placed some shamrock on your lapel on 17th March? Although you may not have realised it, you were accessorising, even at that young age!  So, regardless of what you wear on St Patrick’s Day here is an ode to all things which happen to be “in” and “green” right now. No, we’re not asking you to dress up in emerald green and go out and make a show of yourself today – it’s a pure acknowledgement of how much nice green stuff is gracing our presence this spring.

Korto from Project Runway season five’s runway show

Korto is our favourite designer from the Heidi Klum presented Project Runway which we have been glued to all winter. Her look is both elegant and exotic, touching on her African heritage. Her collection showed plenty of emerald green dresses, along with mustard yellow and white colour schemes.  We love this green, asymmetric, cocktail dress which  is very Oscar de la Renta.

Monsoon, Attie Maxi dress (€235)

Show up as a Grecian Goddess to your best friend’s wedding in this pale green, silk chiffon, maxi dress from Monsoon. Experts at pulling the Grecian look off for half decent prices, Monsoon have a great range of long, flowly gowns for weddings, cocktail parties and black tie events. The dresses are great as non conventional bridesmaid’s dresses too!

Angelina’s Emerald Green earrings

Angelina Jolie amazed the whatshewears.ie team with her Oscar winning earrings. Accompanied by her Elie Saab black sweetheart dress, her Lorraine Schwartz $2.5 million teardrop earrings stole the show. Amongst so many Chopard diamonds, it was great to see emeralds at the Oscars 2009, (did you know that emeralds are one the world’s most expensive jewels?), lending a splash of difference and colour to an otherwise safe, black outfit.
