After the Dublin Horse Show it was on to The Shelbourne Hotel for the post horse show place to be –  The Shelbourne’s Most Stylish Lady competition.

Alex Butler from Cork was chosen from over 200 ladies by judges Melanie Morris, editor-in-chief of IMAGE, super-stylist Marietta Doran, style icon and business woman Pippa O’Connor Ormond choosing between the most elegant ladies and splendid outfits.

Wearing a headpiece from Michelle Kearns and a dress from Vows Boutique Blarney, Alex exuded style and elegance. Alex won the gloriously luxurious top prize of a two night stay in one of The Shelbourne’s wonderfully chic Suites and a two night stay in the stylish Renaissance Le Parc Trocadéro Hotel, a short stroll from the Champs-Élysées in the heart of the world’s style capital, Paris, and more!

Second and third place Most Stylish Lady finalists won an overnight stay with breakfast for two people at The Shelbourne, a voucher from The Salon at The Shelbourne, a pretty floral bouquet created by Flowers By The Shelbourne, and a subscription to IMAGE Magazine.  We loved Laura O’Hanlon’s outfit (she made her hat herself)  and chatted to Nicola Grant who was stunning in blue with a hat by ‘style by Rosylnd’

This week I popped along to the launch of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby on the rooftop of The Marker Hotel where Rachel Stevens was announced as judge for Ladies Day on 25th June.

Their was a prize for best hat on the night and there were hats galore on show so I took the opportunity to wear one myself!

The winner of best hat on the night was Suzanne Ryan Millinery, who is pictured below wearing her winning creation. She also created the turban hat (left) which is divine. I hope to wear one of Suzanne’s headpieces to the Derby itself… can’t wait!

Dublin’s first ever ‘Ice Bar’ opened on Sir John Rogerson’s Quay last week celebrate the launch of 7UP Mojito Free in Ireland.

Attendees donned special cloaks and gloves for the low Temperatures up to minus 10 degrees and were served ice tumblers full of 7Up Mojito Free.

The Ice Experience is open until the 6th of June and guests can still book places through Eventbrite.

You know that rare experience when a very cool concept comes to town and you want to tell all your friends to visit it?

Enter House of Peroni a pop-up Italian experience which offers visitors Italian coffee, beer and food prepared by Michelin-starred chefs, LUCIANO TONA and ROSS LEWIS, who together run OSTERIA LUCIO  and who are feeding the masses for the two week House of Peroni residency.

The stark white Ibizan villa-esque space sits on the rooftop of 1 Dame Lane in Dublin, a venue which was sourced by Popertee, a unique offering pairing buildings and spaces with people who need an impressive location for their pop-up event or shop.

While the restaurant is booked up,  the bar is open (no admission fee to the main bar and no booking required) until 28 May where you can order a Peroni Nastro Azzurro infused cocktail by mixologist Federico Riezzo or a cold Peroni beer enjoyed with al fresco vistas of Dublin rooftops.

Micro coffee roasters, Cloud Picker (who run the slick coffee shop at The Science Gallery) is bringing Italian café culture to The House of Peroni with a fully stocked barista bar, serving up authentic Italian espresso and other coffee favourites.

Yesterday I popped along to the launch of Boots Parenting Club which is available to expectant mums and parents of children aged up to 3 years old across Ireland.

It’s an online parenting advice resource and newsletter at boots.ie/parentingclub and for parents who sign up for the Parenting Club they’ll receive 10 Boots Advantage Card points for every €1 they spend on baby products but also receive tailored gifts and offers, exclusive advice, inspiring ideas and the latest news, tailored to each parent.

It was great to hear some real advice from attendees including Mum of two and TV3 Xpose Presenter who launched the club Aisling O’Loughlin commented: “When expecting a baby or becoming a mother you realise just how much you have to learn! I met some fellow bloggers and journalists and their little ones and discovered some new bloggers, tips and resources for this, which is for me, a whole new world of parenting! We also had a Q&A with a Boots pharmacist from Baggott St (who is also a Mum of two and soon to be three) so I know where I will be heading from now on for advice on what to buy from teething ailments etc!

Insider Magazine, Irish Independent’s weekly magazine, recently held its first ever reader’s event at the River Island store in the Ilac centre in Dublin.

Insider magazine was launched in April 2014 and is a premium glossy, lifestyle magazine which provides readers with the latest Irish and international news and trends in entertainment, food and style. Weekly contributors to the magazine will include Maia Dunphy, Nialler9, Colm Tobin, and Jessica Kelly.

On Wednesday, 11^th September 2013, Peter O’Brien launched his fourth Autumn Winter capsule ladieswear collection for Arnotts. The collection will be available exclusively at Arnotts as part of the Love Irish Design initiative at Arnotts.

300 guests attended his launch event including presenter Kathryn Thomas, Aisling O Loughlin, stylist Ingrid Hoey, actress Aoibhinn Garrighy,  Emer O Reilly Hyland, presenter Diana Bunici,  author Claudia Carroll, chef Clodagh McKenna, Lady Anna Oxmantown, Jenny Buckley, Sharon Bannerton,  Deborah Veale, Melissa Curry,  Peter O Brien, Sonya Lennon and Brendan Courtney.

What She Did: WhatSheWears.ie sat front row sipping sparkling rose alongside Ingrid Hoey and AnnMarie O’Connor marvelling at the models wearing Jill Stuart, D.Efect, 2ND Day, GOAT, Orla Kiely, Lennon Courtney, Lulu Guinness and Pour la Victoire.

Dublin’s social elite gathered on Thursday, 8^th August, 2013 at the Dylan Hotel following the Blossom Hill Ladies Day at the Dublin Horse Show.  Fashionistas who attended Ladies Day and who were wearing a hat to be admired were invited to the Dylan that evening to take part in the Dylan’s Best Hat competition. The judging panel, which included fashion TV presenter, Darren Kennedy, Grainne Ross, general manager of the Dylan Hotel and milliner, Alva Maguire, chose stylist Cathy O’Connor from Dublin as the winner of the bespoke hat created by Alva and inspired by the Dylan Hotel.

Upon arrival guests were treated to elderflower bubbly and Blossom Hill sparkling wine. Guests who attended on the night included Love/Hate actress Susan Loughnane, Irish handbag designer Pauric Sweeney, Sky News reporter Rachel Wyse, Brendan Courtney from Lennon Courtney, TV presenter Eoghan McDermott, former RTE news reader Anne Doyle, Dee Breen from Kildare Village, Roisin Tierney Crowe from L’Oreal and Annmarie Blennerhassett, winner of the Blossom Hill Best Dressed Lady at this year’s Dublin Horse Show.

Fresh from recently launching her autumn winter 2013/14  ready to wear collection to Arnotts, a label  that’s loved by none other than the Middleton sisters, Irish designer Orla Kiely returned to her hometown of Dublin last week to announce her latest partnership – a travel mug with coffee maker Kenco.

Speaking about her reusable travel coffee mug design, Orla said, “I love my coffee and I often enjoy a ‘coffee-on-the-go’, but the throwaway nature of all those paper cups bothered me.  I deliberately used fun, happy colours so that people can enjoy a bright start to their day while drinking their coffee in style. I hope Irish coffee lovers enjoy using the mug.”
