The Edit by Carolyn Donnelly AW15

After 30 successful years in fashion, most notably as part of design duo Quin & Donnelly, Carolyn Donnelly is now regarded as one of the country’s most talented and experienced designers.   In 2012 she was appointed Creative Director of Dunnes Stores, marking the beginning of a new design-led era for the group.  She oversees design across women’s wear, leading a team of new designers in the branded labels within the store group.  She also launched her own collection of Homewares in 2012, Carolyn Donnelly Eclectic. November 2013 saw the launch of her new Womenswear label Carolyn Donnelly The Edit. Both of Carolyn’s labels are exclusively available at selected Dunnes Stores and online at www.dunnesstores.com.

September sees strong colour blocking in tailored dresses and skirts in shades of deep blue, chocolate and black. A beautiful slinky print in dresses and tops originated from a photograph taken by Carolyn of patterns in the sand on the beach near her home in Howth. Striped jersey dresses, cosy knits with grosgrain trims and padded elongated bomber style zip coats in navy or black will take you through to the cooler days of Autumn.

Forest greens, rich blues and navy are key colours for October. A distinctive blue tweedy dress sits alongside dark green animal print tops and long crisp zip fronted white shirts for statement everyday looks. Simple skinny rib polos look chic worn with wide leg pinstripe flannel pants and an oversized grey knit polo dress will become one of your go- to comfort pieces.

Wool coats are a new addition to the collection this season in three styles. A mannish double breasted crombie coat in black, an oversized dolman statement style in black and a classic raglan style made modern with a chunky front zip in camel or navy. They look great worn simply over slim tailored pants, a fine gauge male grey knit and some leather brogues. A show stopping coat arriving in November features hand painted gold flowers all over a solid black wool base. It’s part of a limited edition collection of exclusive pieces which will be included as part of the range occasionally throughout the season.

Accessories are an important part of The Edit this Winter. Included are wonderful leather brogues trimmed with blue grosgrain, black Chelsea boots trimmed with burgundy elastic, black leather brogues with a silver leather toecap and a Chelsea boot to match. Leather bags include a double sided cross body in two colours, an oversized tote in blue and black, a large textured leather shoulder tote and a stunning black handbag with long shoulder straps. There are also colourful patterned socks, leather belts, printed and plain oversized boiled wool scarves and soft knitted beanie hats in the softest shades of pink, sky blue and grey.
