Key Trends for autumn winter 12/13
The wow factor piece that stood out for me from Brown Thomas Autumn Winter 2012 collection is the cape, a key investment piece for the season ahead, as already seen in the flawless form of Tom Ford at The Oscars, worn by Gwyneth Paltrow at The Oscars and sporting by the ever stylish AnnMarie O’Connor in the gallery below.
For “outerwear” at Brown Thomas expect timeless tailoring, cocoon shapes in coats and jackets and the return of military pea coats, sporty bombers and the belted frock coat, where Alexander McQueen and Dior lead the way with flattering black styles.
Nipped-in waists, longer hems and sharp shoulders are more silhouettes you’ll be seeing for autumn winter 12/13 while the trouser suit is having a moment as is the tux suit. The skirt continues its fashion focus, especially leather skirts, as seen at Balenciaga.
Black is THE colour for autumn winter, with navy proving a worthy rival and just like last winter, burgundy is peeping through. Primary colours also dominate with dynamic shades of blue, red, yellow and forest green.
P.S Look out for the new labels at Brown Thomas this season including Alaïa, Alice & Olivia, Belstaff, Erdem, Halston Heritage, See by Chloé and Stella McCartney Eveningwear.
