Bloom and Boots Botanics Skincare

I’m no green fingers, in fact I don’t even have a garden but I popped along to Bloom in the Park on a sunny-but-showery Bank holiday weekend to discover that it’s not all about plants, show gardens and flowers.  Bloom now includes food stalls and chef displays to rival Taste of Dublin (Nevin McGuire was pulling in the crowds at Bloom with his cookery demos), a kid’s zone, fashion shows, live music and chill out areas with massive bean bags to lounge on.

One of my favourite discoveries at Bloom was the Boots Botanics Retreat where my friend and I took shelter from a passing shower and received a complimentary hand massage while finding out about the Boots Botanics range from the super knowledgeable Boots team.

The skincare range is developed by Boots with world-leading plant scientists at The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, England (who approve the lead extracts used in the entire Botanics range to substantiate their efficacy to ensure Botanics products really work) and it combines pure plant extracts with high-tech formulations using the most effective natural ingredients.

Two products from the range really stood out for me then which I’ve gone on to try :

Botanics All Bright Radiance Balm

Made from the hibiscus plant this balm softens and brightens skin and can be worn over your moisturizer and under your makeup to give a more radiant complexion.  It can be used on its own, as an excellent primer for foundation or alternatively it can be worn as a highlighter over your makeup.

Botanics All Bright Radiance Balm (€7.99) certainly gives Mac ‘Strobe’ a run for its money.

Botanics Hot Cloth Cleansing Balm

Developed with nourishing rosehip which is great for improving skin suppleness, this deep cleanser (€12.99) is up there with the Eve Lom hot cloth cleanser. The product is 97% organic and comes with a muslin cloth. Its blend of Shea Butter, Rosehip and Jojoba Oil leave will remove makeup leaving skin smooth and clean.

With the pampering hand massage done and dusted (a baby will only wait so long) then it was off to find the baby changing facilities at Bloom- a tent with the coolest baby changing mats and the comfiest of armchairs – proving that Bloom can be done with a baby on board.

Details: Botanics is exclusively available in Boots stores nationwide and on Boots.ie
