Clarins Odyssey Eye Quartet Mineral Palette

If there’s one thing I don’t mind investing in, it’s a good eyeshadow palette. Essential for transforming computer-wearied eyes into dazzling after-work peepers, I always carry one in my everyday make up bag. My new fail-safe palette is the Clarins’ Odyssey Eye Quartet Mineral Palette from their Christmas Collection. At €40, it may appear pricey but if you break that down it’s only €10 a pop which for a quality brand like Clarins, is very good value.

First points are awarded for the presentation. Housed in a seasonal red velvet pouch, there is an air of elegance and luxury to the design. Open the pale gold compact and inside are four harmonious shades including brown, beige, taupe-bronze and a gold leaf highlighter. The gold notches up added points as it can be used wet or dry to create a variety of shimmering textures. I can vouch for the ‘long-wearing’ line in the description, plus they don’t crease. The mirror is great for quick fixes at your desk and there are a couple of foam tipped applicators that aren’t amazing for blending but do the trick for a touch up.

Available at Clairns counters nation-wide this month. €40.

Kiehl’s Youth Regenerator for Eyes

Prevention is better than cure, so now’s the time to start your party season damage control! The fine lines that appear around our eyes after a good night out/marathon shopping spree are sometimes a superficial reaction to a loss of moisture. In other words – don’t panic! A flush of hydration can instantly smooth these away. Kiehl’s customer favorite, Rosa Arctica Youth Regenerating Cream, has finally launched an eye cream. The rich, balm texture is infused with the same rare “Resurrection Flower,” an ingredient named for its unique ability to survive in nature for over two years without water.

What that means for your skin is hard-working hydration. The formula brings instant luminosity to under-eye skin with the help of mineral-derived skin brighteners Mica and Titanium Dioxide, immediately ironing out fine lines and giving a fresh-faced appearance. The main ingredient sounds a bit fairy-tale-esqe, but the “Resurrection Flower” is a viable beautifer. More recognizable names on the list of ingredients include Shea and Cocoa Butter, which also put a stop to moisture loss. Remember: a grain of rice-sized amount per eye is all you need, any more and you can make matters worse.

Availability: Available from the Kiehl’s Wicklow St, Dundrum T.C  and Arnotts from mid-October. €43
