Beauty: July Must-Haves

This month’s beauty round up includes a wallet friendly lip stain, a first of its kind beauty exclusive from YSL and a travel-sized perfume that’s just perfect for your holidays.

Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy 30ml

£39.50 / €51.00

If there’s one thing you cannot be without on holidays (as well as a good SPF) it’s a travel-sized perfume. Juicy Couture recently launched a cute 30ml version of their cult fragrance Viva La Juicy. It’s one of those please-all perfumes—top notes of wild berry and mandarin keep it fresh and fruity, while honeysuckle and gardenia add just the right amount of sweetness. The final note is jasmine which is renowned for having a slightly narcotic effect, so a spritz of this can help you relax and unwind during your staycation.

It’s one of those smells that’s quite girly and therefore one men tend to be attracted to, so whether you’re away with the other half or on the lookout for cheeky holiday romance, Viva La Juicy is a handbag must-have.

Available nationwide from Brown Thomas and Arnotts.

YSL ‘Devoted to Fans’ Palette

£39 / €52.00

As you may be aware, there have been a lot of changes of late in the Yves Saint Laurent Maison. With Heidi Slimane taking the helm fashion-wise, the name has been changed to Saint Laurent Paris and the atelier has been moved from Paris to LA. It seems Lloyd Simmonds, the YSL make-up creative director, is keen to keep up with the maison’s modernisation and last week saw the launch of an exclusive YSL Palette created especially for the fans of its Facebook page.

The ‘Devoted to Fans’ palette is the first ever entirely digital product and there are only 1,650 available. The lucky YSL-likers who receive them will also get exclusive information, perks and services through their Facebook feed as well as in-store. The Devoted to Fans palette is only available online.

NYC  Color 16 Hour Lip Stain

€3.99 / £3.99 each

I’m on a constant quest to find lip colour that won’t fade after an hour or so and NYC’s 16 hour lipstains have proved a worthy discovery. The lightweight formula is enriched with provitamin B5 so they’re not like normal stains than can dry your lips out a little. What I like best about these is the colour is buildable so if you fancy just a sheer flush of pink for daywear you just need to apply one or two coats. For a more intense pigment at night, a few more sweeps and you’re good to go.

As stickiness is most people’s pet hate when it comes to lip products (Irish wind + gummy gloss = hair stuck on lips), you’ll be happy to hear these are super-silky and don’t leave a gluey residue (take note Lancôme Juicy Tubes!). Best of all, they’re less than a fiver so they’re wallet-friendly as well as hair-friendly.

Available in 12 shades, the two latest offerings are Unstoppable red, a deep pillar box red and Orange On the Go, a blood orange that’s bang on this season’s orange lip trend.

Available from chemists nationwide as well as selected Dunnes Stores and Penny’s.
