Top 5: Beanie Hats

Thanks to songstresses Rita Ora and Rihanna, the beanie hat has made a comeback for autumn winter 12.

Rita’s black beanie with triple “X” in gold emblems across the top was custom made for her by La RAP, a Los Angeles based artist and fashion designer Vally Rap. La RAP are offering a limited edition run and you can pre order your XXX Beanie from La RAP online store .

Not just limited to the music scene, the slouchy knit was also seen at Fashion Week everywhere from the Lacoste AW12 runway to on the heads of off-duty models such as Cara Delavigne.

Cara’s red beanie hat pictured above is from Supreme  which she wears with a Trapstar London tee (she cut off the collar and sleeves) and a Burberry leather jacket.

So, if you’re looking for a winter woolly that’s a cool yet practical way to finish off your look, then here are our top five picks from what’s in the shops right now:

Studded beanie

New online store Folkster’s studded beanie, as modelled below by shop owner and stylist Blanaid Hennessey, is a great option for adding some edge to your look. €9.99 at Folkster.com .

Glaming up your beanie look has never been so easy with this brooch on beanie style from River island. Gearing up for a collab with Rihanna in 2013, this hat is just one example of what River island does best, accessories. €26 at River Island (pictured main image).

Slouchy Beanie

The slouchy boyfriend beanie look isn’t a new look by any means but year in year out it returns as a winter wardrobe favourite. €15 at River Island (pictured main image).

Animal beanie

Channel your animal instincts with a cute racoon, fox or owl beanie hat taking inspiration from the animals of farthing wood– they come complete with ears. €26.50 at Accessorize.

Striped Pompom Beanie

We love a good pom pom knit so this nautical striped beanie at Forever 21 (€5,90) is a perfect budget buy. We’ve also seen beanies in Penneys for as little as €2.

Will you be keeping your head and ears warm with a beanie hat this season?
